(This addresses all series, but I couldn't find a place to put it so I put it here)
I think that the bias is very obvious. Why can't they just leave the political topics alone... It got so bad that I was waiting for them to recall the savage George Bush.... Not to mention how they made the Ferengi to represent the capitalist.

It might be easier to respond to your post if you brought up specific examples. In general, I think most futuristic, near utopian society will across as liberal. After all, liberalism is all about liberty through progression, which requires change. Conservatism, on the other hand, is more about preserving traditional ideals and methods that have been shown to work. You can't make a scifi show set 300 years in the future and not show change.

As a staunch Republican, myself, I find STAR TREK's Liberal stance to be offputting, on occassion ...
But it also helps to seperate the show from modern reality. Liberals have alot of power in Today's World, that's true, but not all, or even most of it, really.
And it's hard, when they put actors in silly costumes and rubber heads, and tell people, "that's the future." It never will be. Because even the aliens are really being "us."
A message of Peace and The Brotherhood of Man at least grounds all of that with some sincerity. Nothing "realistic," mind, but ... well-intentioned.

In a pig's eye (to quote a venerable doctor of our acquaintance)!
This is one of the age-old myths so often perpetuated by conservatives. It's just like the supposed liberal bias in the media - again a nonexistent force, but if that phrase (the epitome of euphemism) is repeated often enough, somehow it gains some credence.
Power and wealth is generally held by plutocrats, and these guys are generally conservative.
However, thank goodness for the likes of Bill Gates, Warren Buffett etc. Incredibly successful businessmen - with a heart - good old-fashioned philanthropists who care about their fellow man, and are prepared to put their money where their mouths are.
With guys like that there is some still some hope for the future.
However, it is true that occasionally liberals have broken through. Had society always been in the hands of conservatives we wouldn't even be having this conversation. It has been the steady and welcome influence of liberals, progressives and radicals that has allowed for democratic dispersal of information and expression.
You, I , we all owe our freedoms to those who were prepared to stand up to the rich powerful and selfish throughout history. I'm optimistic that the future will be better - eventually - because the spread of liberal philosophy is unstoppable and conservativism is always retreating ... except when it manages to purchase support via distortion, propaganda and an appeal to people's worst instincts.
Some folks are obsessed with this issue on this site. It seems to be a particularly American trait to get so wrapped up in always trying to insert some kind of political bias into everything ... even Star Trek. But since we are here - the Trek future is obviously liberal, plural, and accommodating under the UFP. The forces of conservatism are well expressed by Klingons, Romulans etc.

Yeah MSNBC, CNN, Huffington, AP their all right down the line...
Aare you telling me that the creators didn't intend to make Ferengi represent the modern conservative? The problem with a Utopia is that it would never resemble one is shown in Star Trek... It would resemble something like o IDK... USSR?
