its really sad that this show was so short lived. it had many interesting stories that wouldve held their own as 50 minute episodes in the original series. the series was also amazing because of its ability to portray aliens and landscapes with a variety that wouldve been nearly impossible to pull off in the original series due to budget constraints. i also thought it was quite remarkable that they were able to get most of the major players from the original series to reprise their roles in voice form and that many them were not only willing to voice their original characters but numerous supporting characters per episode as well. a lot of people like to rag on the animation quality of the series but it didnt really bother me so much since i grew up on many filmation animated series'. but as i said, its sad that this show didnt live a longer life. it touched on a lot of areas in the star trek universe that the original series never got a chance to and didnt dumb itself down too much for the sake of catering to an audience whom the majority was supposed to be children.

marshall8472 is totally right - TAS is very boring!
Cartoons should not be as "talky" as this one.
Especially when the animation isn't that great,
to start with. What kid today would have the
patience to sit through this series? Few, I bet!

If TAS had been live-action, I think I'd have enjoyed it more. The stories weren't terrible, they just weren't presented too fabulously. There are alot worse examples of animated tv shows that were based on other franchises. I am not a fan of animated movies/tv anyway. Some people can get into it, some just can't.

TAS is almost painful to sit through in some episodes

TAS is watchable, but is easily the weakest part of Trek.

although i liked enterprise more than most, i have to agree that its probably the weakest link in the star trek series.

No that would be Voyager

TAS is infinitely preferable to either of those. It is a pity it didn't last longer and I guess many people thought it was a stop-gap step towards a new live action series being made. And at that time it wasn't so far from the truth with discussions about films and TV series already developing between Roddenberry and the studios...

the reason why i liked voyager over enterprise is mostly because of the doctor but i also found the voyager crew had more fascinating encounters with mysterious phenomenon in space than archer's enterprise crew did. perhaps if enterprise wasnt cancelled then maybe it wouldve ended up higher on my preference list. i repeat though, even though its my least favorite star trek, that doesnt mean i thought it was a bad show. its just that out of all the star treks, enterprise was probably the most forgettable.

But despite the fact you thought Voyager had interesting encounters etc., didn't you find the bunch of actors on Voyager a tedious bunch of lightweights unworthy of amateur dramatics - with the obvious exceptions of The Doctor (the magnificent Picardo) and Seven of Nine (the gorgeous Ryan)?

Enterprise wasn't great, but it was several notches up from Voyager ...

Anyway, this half-hour cheapo 70s cartoon wiped the floor with both of them!

i admit that most of the cast of voyager seemed really secondhand compared to other actors from other star trek shows but like i said, i remember more from voyager because they went through so much more than archer's crew. i admit that in many aspects, enterprise was better than voyager but there just wasnt enough of it. believe me when i say that i was one of those people that wouldve given their left arm to keep the series running. it was really tragic how the series ended so abruptly and with such a horrible series finale. i know they were also trying to end "star trek" in a way but c'mon, couldnt they think of something better than that?

despite what little content tas had to offer due to its short life span, many episodes from it were quite memorable because the show had some great writers. unfortunately, not everyone is a fan of filmation's animation style which leads to the "love/hate" relationship people have for this show.

The tragedy of TAS isn't that it was short lived. It was cheesy with reused scenes and a simplistic soundtrack. The tragedy is that it wasn't better funded. With better animation and funding, it might have done better.

Excellent point. Of course to me, the best shows and movies never get the recognition they deserve. The people who decided what is best are generally narrow minded and out of touch.
