It's TOO much like the Soverign Class. The side view makes it look like a refit a la TMP.

I don't think so. The way the secondary hull sticks out in front of the neck just looks bad, as does the neck region from all angles. No matter where I fly around those Odysseys the neck joints look stupid.
The nacelles seem under-sized as well.
The saucer shape actually isn't that bad, even though I would prefer more of an egg-shape contour but the curves on the upper side of the saucer look dumb.
What attributes does the Odyssey have that give it appeal? I'll have to look that up.

Well it's big. And bigger is better?

A bigger target? With a slower turn rate?
I've been keeping my engineer in Galaxies if I want a big ship with a high crew count. With the dreadnaught, i can equip cannons and beat down my target and with the Sacuer Seperation Galaxy, I can turn faster and have a bot.
For big, Galaxy is tough to beat.

I've been flying my Odyssey (USS Resolute-C) since I unlocked it in the two-year anniversary. While it looks a bit iffy from a couple of angles, I can honestly say I love the design. Even in the middle of combat, I can't help but marvel when I see the saucer section from above. And the double neck is barely visible from the back, which is where you'll see it from most of the time.

I do like the nacelles. I like the nacelles on the venture too. Not impressed with the overall design though. The Odyseey saucer has a nice arrowhead look at some angles but that seconday hull and neck just kill it to me.
How does the Odyssey fight and maneuver compared to other cruisers?

It takes some getting used to, but I love it. The key is adjusting to the low turn rate. I compensate for this by using the following attack strategy:
Fly straight at an enemy ship at full speed (though not full impulse), firing all anti-shield weapons like beam phasers. When you're five km away, fire a tractor beam but keep going. When you're 1 km away, cut speed, switch to reverse, and start dumping warp plasma. If timed right, the plasma will catch the enemy ship and slow it enough for you to keep shooting one shield facing until it's gone, then unload on them with torpedoes. By the time the plasma wears off, you should be able to fire another tractor beam.
I use this on cruisers and battleships all the time. Once I took out a Breen cruiser in less than thirty seconds.

my tactic is to put one RCS console in the engineering section this boosts the turn rate
then deck out hte rest of the ship to boost fire power
dont worry about defence this ship is like a tank
thats what i think any way

With turrets, mines and a tractor beam, I don't worry about my blind spots.

To be honest I miss when all these Pretend Startrek fans didnt Exist. Back before the 2009 movie, when trek was trek, now it annoyes me to see these people who call themselfs fans when i'd seen all the episodes ever made 4x over in a year.

^What the hell are you talking about!?! I've been an avid trek fan since the 80s. I myself don't like ST09 but it has at least made people check out the old stuff. As much as I don't like the new material, it is making fans of the classics.
As for STO, it has been a great way to have a trek fantasy with a customizable character and ship.

Sorry. Haven't had that experience. It has been my experience that only dedicated fans are willing to have any kind of trek merchandise, let alone dress in trek clothes.
