Trek was destroyed well before Abrams got to it. Berman's sexier, edgier Enterprise and Baird's horrendously derivative Nemesis took care of that.
Abrams just took what was left and found a way to make it interesting again.
I Borg'd yo mama last night. She found it very assimilating.

I thought the F looked too much like the E almost like it was just a refit not a new class. I would think the ship would be a little bit more original.
Are you sure it isn't time for a colorful metaphor?

I still have to say I'm no fan of the J, though it serves it purpose, in can be clearly seen as a future ship, generations ahead of the E, and it is certaintly an innovative design.
The F seems to be quite the opposite. Not enough though behind it. It seems to be an extension of the Soverign class, rather than a new class altogether. Inside the STO story, I am curious about what role it will play and the crew. i would be very disapointed if it has a completely new crew with xero ties to the TNG legacy, with the exception of the name. Heck, I'd even accept ol'd Wesley Crusher as captain!
And in raguards to the F and J, it always helps me to thing there were weirded ideas out there for a future Enterprise.

I couldn't view the pics you posted from my browser, but based on what I'm seeing online and based on the comments, I think I've found the ship of which you speak....
I wish they'd just let the ship design not turn into an abstract art experiment for some hippies.... Last time I checked, ship design in the Navy and aircraft design in the Air Force wasn't a contest between competing Reniors, but had everything to do with enhancing positive characteristics like stealth, defensive capabilities, etc - and minimizing things like drag, radar signature... not which design was "prettiest..." oh oh sorry... "visually stimulating."
That is all.... Empok Nor Station Manager

I think the Enterprise F is one ugly ship. THere were plenty of ships that were better than it, but those qualified ships didn't get enough votes. The CBS winner drew a deformed Soverign class. I would rather much perfered some one draw the Vesta with some alterations to its hull. My idea was that the ship moved to a carrier class of some sort that can hot-launch 4-6 defiants equipped with cloaking devices. I had enough of the Enterprise being 2 nacelled with a saucer section and body. It is probably time to switch to a new class of ships. That is my opinion.

I agree that slipstream design criteria was completely ignored. STO decided to reinvent the wheel instead of coming up with the next logical step in design evolution. But when you look at the hideous STO original ships designed, you can't say you are surprised at how poorly they chose.
The winner wasn't even amongst the highest rated in the general vote.

Directed to JJ Abram's Star Trek Fans:
Perhaps, they were not true Star Trek Fans of the newer series, and they were a bunch of inexperienced Starship Bureau Cadets that Starfleet had during that event. XD
Going off on a tangent:
I am, also, disappointed at people who like one nacelled ships as well. If someone made the Enterprise F with one nacelle then it is the end of STO as we know it! Or future flag ships...

Honestly? Did you watch Star Trek: Nemesis? Picard trashed 3 ships in his career, Stargazer (conflict with the Feregis), Enterprise D (Crashland on a planet), Enterprise E (Raming Speed into Shinzon's Ship). One of the most ironic thing about the ending is that they shower a newly built soverign class. It is unknown if it was going to be the new Enterprise F. I would have perfered the Vesta Class from the Memory Beta Wiki.

Code47, the ship you see at the end of ST:NEM is the repaired Enterprise-E.

Not a bad design, but I would have preferred it if it were more sleek looking. The F looks more likw a tank than a majestic exploration vessel.

I liked st 09, i grew up with tng/ds9/voy/ ent and the moives. The idea with st 09 is to bring a the younger genereation in to the franchise and keep the old still interested. I wish thought they make a st series set in the primeverse, there was something going around since august that someone picthed and idea to do a st series set in the primeverse post voy/nem! I want this. Nemesis wasn't the best st movie but it was good action movie. The enterprise looks alot better in nemesis, it a shame we did not get to see the finalized refit of the enterprise e. It was planned to be in nemesis but they had to cut it due to budget problems. At least we get a schimatic of it.

The F does not exsit unless you count star trek online. Which movie are you talking about, all the enteprises has taken a beating. If you talking about the E then you did not read my post properly.
