It was fortunate that Hubble found the moon
in advance of NEW HORIZONS arriving. It is
going to be interesting what else they discover ...
But I'm of the mind that we know a lot about Pluto
already, thanks to VOYAGER 2's investigation of TRITON.

I just think it's wonderful we are still finding things in our own backyard.
With all of the probes out in the solar system now, I bet our understanding of the solar system will change significantly in the near future.
And for those who want to know about New Horizons:

When I was living in Pasadena, Texas I once called NASA and asked them if they could make a probe with life support so I could go on a one way mission into space. I told them i thought it would be cool and benefit NASA if they sent out a probe with a human onboard to relay all the information and the things I saw.
This was the mans responce....
"Son, are you OK? I think you need to talk to someone. You wouldn't make it a week in a capsule that small. You would be climbing the walls in about four days. But I will say this. It does sound like an interesting idea."
I tried to explain to him that I was a complete loser with nothing to lose and that i was used to being alone and in small places, but I don't think he thought I was serious.
"Do you think it's possible for two people to go back in time and correct a mistake that never should have happened?" ... "On this ship, anything is possible."

Yeh!
I was always one who objected to Pluto's reduced staus from planet to planetoid or dwarf planet (stupid term).
I also think the new outer planet/oids (in Sol's system) we find out there should continue with the Roman God naming convention rather than some of the other daft names they are coming up with ...
BTW - Vulcan has no moon! ("I'm not surprised Mr. Spock!" [Lt. Uhura])
to boldy go where no man has gone before

I think that Pluto should have its formal status of a planet reinstated. All of the planets in the SOl System have a Moon or at least large asteroids oribiting them. This alone says that the planets gravity is great enough to cause another planetary body to orbit it thus setting the planet apart from the rest of the celestial bodies in a solar system.

The problem with your definition is that a few asteroids would have to be included because a small percentage also have moons. Or at the very least, Eris would need to be included too as a planet because it is larger than Pluto and has a moon.
