Just re-watching the series here on the site for the first time since they took it off HDNET. (I had the whole thing DVR'd for a while, and my wife was pissed b/c it took up so much space.
)
Here's 10 things I recently thought of while watching:
1. I wish that female MACO Trip was giving neuropressure to in "Harbinger" appeared in more episodes. Did anyone else find the scene with her and T'Pol memorable? It managed to be sexy and funny at the same time, always a winning forumula.
2. I miss the Ensign character that had a crush on Phlox early on. (Can't think of her name right now since I'm trying to write it. ) I read in another thread on this board that she actually died during production....that sucks.
3. How awesome would season 5 have been with Shran as a MACO and on the bridge all the time?
4. Daniels was the worst character on the show. His way of saying things without saying things that sometimes didn't even make sense annoyed me to no end. I did enjoy Silik though, one of the best characters I rarely see mentioned. Don't know why people are so anti-Suliban, it makes sense that after the TCW they were largely destoyed except for the refugees on the one planet in the concentration camp that spread through the galaxy, so it isn't much of a stretch to see how they ceased to be galactic players by TOS. They really weren't players in ENT either, just the faction contracted to the "Shadow" guy for the TCW, and this is a small faction of genetically enhanced Suliban.
5. I have never seen Major Hayes mentioned on these boards, I'm new so I'm probably just missing it, but I liked this character. He played the "jarhead" type pretty good, and his fight with Malcolm made "Harbinger" a great episode without the blatant sexuality.
6. I liked how T'Pol became addicted to trelium D and had to struggle through it in "Damage" especially when she basically freaked out in Command, and almost killed herself to retrieve some from the damaged cargo bay. Nice to see Vulcans aren't above a little substance abuse.
7. I did not like "Marauders", I thought this portrayal of Klingons didn't do the species justice. Of course, these were not the elite warrior Klingons we're used to seeing in Trek, they were the crew of cargo ship, but still, the final "battle" is very anti-climactic and reminded me of old tv shows where the good guys wear white hats and the bad guys are stupid enough to stumble right into the obvious traps.
8. I liked how Archer grew so dark in the Xindi arc, even though I hear alot of people complain about it. It made sense, and was imo a social commentary about the war on terror irl in a lot of ways. Remember that "CIA Blacksites" were hitting the news during this time period the shows were being written, and it was nice to see humans portrayed in a way more believable than the perfect TNG society, which I gather is socialist in nature. RL Humans would, no matter how much we grew to accept alien life as equal to our own, torture and steal from them if we thought the survival of Earth was at stake. Look at what we have done to each other!
9. The Vulcan episodes "Forge, ect." were awesome. I mean, sure, it's a little far-fetched to accept that T'Pol is so important in Vulcan society, given she was apparently a high-ranking intelligence officer, then a liason to Starfleet, all while her mother is a leader in the underground, but hey, they needed a way to make what was going on personally relevent to the crew, and she was the only Vulcan.
10. I really wish we could have gotten to take a trip to Denobula. I loved Phlox on the show, and we got to see a bit of Andoria and lots of Vulcan, Denobula was cheated. One episode isn't too much to ask, Phlox could have had lots of backstory, he had three different families afterall.
I could go on all day.....
