I wish that there was more of TNG.

Well we were lucky to have 7 years worth and 4 movies. As Seinfeld said, a show that lasts more than 7 years tend to start degrading.

I really ought to start thinking about my next Data costume... however, three things has stopped me.

1. Lack of time

2. Lack of money

3. The possibility I might not even be able to attend the 2012 Star Trek convention in Chicago... or anywhere, for that matter. Sigh.

Growing up I was always looking for father figures because I didn't have one in real life, so Captain Picard became my TV daddy.  These days it's Gibbs from NCIS, but I still love listening to the intellectual philosophy of Picard when he's not outsmarting the bad guys.

The one thing I did not like about TNG was when the episode was about the detective novels or English literature, like Sherlock Holmes or Robin Hood.  I want to see the Enterprise crew exploring the universe, not presenting a stage-play.

It was a versitile show, they did a little of everything. Besides, having Worf say he "is not a merry man" was funny stuff.

The Next Generation is of course technically superior to the original Star Trek series which used props over and over again and could be recognized in different episodes.  The original Star Trek has a great cast and good stories though.  I read yesterday that Brent Spiner just had a birthday and is 63, Happy Birthday Brent!

I sympathize with you miklamar.  Sometimes the holodeck is used too much as a writing gimmick.  It defnitely does some versatility and interesting possibilities but it can also get a bit too silly and goofy for me.  Detective novels and Robin Hood are anemic next to VOY and having the EMH play Beowulf.  That was jumping the holo-shark in my book.

(take2frakes I did not mean Brent Spiner as John Adams)
