I'm surprised how many people dislike Kirk. Not only was he the pathfinder but I rarely disagreed with him or his methods.

Sisko is easily the worst (though Janeway is not far off) Sisko lacked almost any emotion and no matter how long i saw him on screen i would always forget the he was a captain whether it be bad writing or bad acting from Brooks (or both) i am unsure. It just seemed to me that Sisko lacked that special something that Kirk and Picard (and even Pike) had

So, you think a captain should rule by fear and/or strict discipline rather than be friends with those under his command? Compare Picard and Jellico and tell me which is better.

I'd have to say Janeway. Her interpretation of the Prime Directive was so rigid she sometimes made Picard look like Kirk but then she'd break it. I know some of that was an excuse to keep them from getting back to Earth but still.

Now if we were letting feelings about the actors get into it, then definitely Kirk. Pompous, hypocritical fake and I don't just mean the character.

Agreed on the boring speeches. I hate prepared speeches enough in real life, (Deliberately missed my own graduation this year) never mind in fiction. Although that having been said, Sisko had his share -- not quite as many, and possibly not quite as boring -- of rhetorical bullcrap as well.

Sisko and Archer are my favorites!

oh well... my least fave is definatly Picard.

Sisko was dynamic. Picard was a wall.

Wow, why are you guys all hating on Janeway? I love her!

Honestly, my least favorite is Sisko, especially in the earlier DS9 episodes. He definitely deserves "most improved" though as far as getting better as the series progresses. I like Sisko, he's just my least favorite.

As far as worst captain though, Archer gets that award. I liked Archer, but I just expected more from him. He was supposed to be so awesome and it just seems like he got the captain seat only because of who his daddy was, what a let down.
