The producers on TNG would've liked to have been able to do some more episodes where Data played Sherlock Holmes on the holodeck. But they stopped when they were threatened with a lawsuit by the estate of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. They apparently never officially asked permission to use Holmes in TNG.

Just saw something interesting:

My two favorite shows, Star Trek and MASH. have crossed each other sharing actors before, ex: David Ogden Stiers,, who was Maj. Winchester, also played Doctor Timicin on Star Trek: TNG.

Well, I was watching a Mission: Impossible episode starring Leonard Nimoy recently, and Loretta Swit (Hot Lips) showed up as a guest star!

Funny, huh?

(also funny, Barry Williams, who was Greg on the Brady Bunch, showed up with an accent on Mission: Impossible and spoke for a long time with Leonard Nimoy (as Paris).  I know...that has nothing to do with Star Trek, but it is funny how some Star Trek stars, like Nimoy, ended up working with many other famous stars at the time.....all our favorite shows as kids sharing our favorite actors!  Don't mind me....just getting a little nostalgic, here!)

OK this one's probably a little more well known.

Lee Arenberg has played several Trek roles (except on TOS), including a Ferengi a couple times. But he's probably more well known for playing the pirate Pintel in the Pirates Of The Caribbean movie series. I love those movies!

The Star Trek: Deep Space 9 episode Far Beyond The Stars is the only Trek episode to ever use the "N" word (Derogatory and racist insult for black people).

Vic Tayback played a gangster named Jojo on the TOS episode A Piece Of The Action. He would later become best known for playing Mel on the long running sitcom Alice.

Wow!! that's a lot of stuff.  So a couple more facts.

James Doohan was in a number of episodes of "Payton Place", also in 2 episodes of "The Bold and the Beautiful".

His real middle name is "Montgomery".

"Quantum Leap", "Men of a Certian Age" (should never have been cancelled so soon after it started!), a few epsiodes of "Murphey Brown", as Peter Hunt, and of course ST: Enterprise (My Fav of the ST shows)--Scott Bakula.  He also has worked in musicals, on stage. Elizabeth T'les Tucker

Jonathan Frakes and Marina Sirtis and also Michael Dorn all did character voices on the cartoon series Gargoyles. I think several other Trek actors did too but I'm not sure who.

Leonard Nimoy did voice work in "The Pagemaster", an animated movie starring the voice of Macauley Culkin.

Nimoy voiced Dr. Jekyll and his counterpart, Mr. Hyde, at the haunted house.

The story was about a boy meeting "book-people" from different genres: horror, fantasy, and adventure

The movie also starred another Star Trek alum, Whoopi Goldberg, as the voice of the fantasy book "princess".

Speaking of Whoopi Goldberg, she had a cameo on Glee.  The episode is titled "Choke." and it aired recently, maybe last week.

Rene Auberjonois, Armon Shimerman, and Kate Mulgrew all had guest spots on the Sy-Fy series Warehouse 13.

Rene played a former warehouse tech who traps his brain in the computer system, Armon played a past head of the Warehouse, and Kate played one of the members of the group that ran the warehouse, as well as the mother of one of the main characters.

In the TV show Psych, episode "Game, Set... Muuurder?" the victim's name is Deanna Sirtis. No way that is not a reference to Deanna Troi/Marina Sirtis. They also mention detecting an anomaly in the space-time continuum (a common Star Trek theme). Oh, and Corbin Bernsen, who is a main actor on Psych, played the other Q in "Deja Q."

When she first heard about the Star Trek Lucial Ball thought the show was about following the USO as it visited the troops overseas.
