I was so gutted when she died, SJS was the best companion to the Doctor and I would've loved to see her join the 11th Doctor on an adventure too. RiP.

My choice for best female hero:
Kara "Starbuck" Thrace is one of my all time favourite science fiction heroes, she's tough and really frakked up. She has the whole "shoot 'em up" kind of attitude which is cool. Shes an A+ Viper pilot. Her cocky-ness was welcomed as a good plot device in most cases. Not to mention Katee Sackhoff makes everything better .

I especially liked the tensions that arose over the series between her and Lee.
