Disagree. The authors have done wonders with Ezri. Jadzia got less interesting as the show progressed anyways. In the end, her best role was in spicing up Worf.

Hello. I'm new here. Jadzia is alot more cofident in her ablities and knew what she wanted. Come on Jadzia married Worf. They should've at least a couple of more seasons togeter. It would've been intresting to see what a half klingon half trill would look like. Erzi just stumpled around and was confused half the time. And if they had planned on switching the dax symiote around they should've done it sooner. Because the character arc for Ezri is only a season. It would've taken alot more than one seaon to hash on out the character of Ezri.

Unfortunately, they did not plan it.

>Ezri came to late. She had only one season to develop her character.

>One thing nobody here seems to know is the reason why they replaced Jadzia. All the major actors had a six year contract to start with. They all prolonged it for the last season. Terry Farell did not.

>

The producers didn't handle it well and they savaged much of season seven trying to force in a new character at the expense of the story arc.

Also, they did not have very many good Bashir episodes in 7 because of Ezri.

Are you kidding? Inter Arma was a great Bashir episode and incidentally barely had Ezri in it. And Extreme Measures -- the third last episode -- a fantastic farewell character piece for Julian and Miles.

Blame it on Ted Danson.

Hooking up with Worf was what killed Jadzia. She became his accessory, his sidekick, and she stopped being a strong character in her own right. Lots of the relationships on DS9 worked like that: Kassidy Yates and Leeta never starred in their own episodes; they were simply parts of Sisko's and Rom's stories, respectively. Jadzia suffered the same fate, getting shuffled off to the sidelines. Her death scene wasn't even shown from her point of view -- we saw it through Sisko's and Worf's eyes.

Ezri, whether she was annoying or not, was the stronger and more dynamic of the two. Jadzia should have been bumped off earlier.

We saw the scene where Dukat fatally wounded her as it happened.  We then saw Jadzia's final moments with Worf before Bashir carted her off to remove the symbiont where I'm assuming she died on his operating table.

Cassidy and Leeta were never meant to be major characters or even characters who were developed in themselves.  From the beginning, they were there as romantic interests.  Keiko was her own person, did her own thing but in episodes she was in, it was an O'Brien story.  Nothing wrong with that, she was always a supporting role.  Hence WHY award ceremonies have support role categories.

As for Jadzia, there was nothing amazing really left to do with her character individually, and there is nothing wrong with that.  Just because a particular character isn't developed or focused on as much as the rest doesn't mean it needs to be killed off.  Jadzia was a strong women, and it isn't like the marriage cowed her nor did Worf/Jadzia episodes need to water down Jadzia for the sake of Worf.

The Dax gimmick was that she had a lot of lives in the one character.  They expanded on that a lot early on.  She was a strong, independant,  and sensual woman and even though that character still had value; the concept of seeing a new individual having the same symbiant but still being herself was a great way to further explore Dax.  As much as I love Ezri, I don't think having either Jadzia or Ezri made/would have made season 7 better.  As much as I love Ezri, the Worf/Jadzia couple had many meaningful adventures left.  And now it seems Worf must suffer as much as Obrien.

I thought Jadzia's demeanor shifted after the weddding and she and Worf were great together.  If they had to kill of Jadzia, i wished they had just focused on her death rather than rushing an unneccesary character in the final season.

Then we would have missed out on a more rounded development of the symbiotic experience and Sikso going from being the student to the mentor.

So it was okay that Kassidy and Leeta were lame characters because they were supposed to be like that? When Garak, Nog, Rom, and Dukat all got as much attention as the main cast? That just sounds like laziness to me. Reducing a primary character to a supporting role just because the writers couldn't think of anything "amazing" to do with her also sounds like laziness. Like I said before: Jadzia became Worf's sidekick. I definitely think there's something wrong with that.

I loved Jadzia on the show, and I did not like Ezri.  But, in the new series of books about Capt. Ezri on the Aventine, I really like her as a captain.  She's innovative and gets the job done.  Perhaps the situation on  DS9 was bad for her, especially replacing the popular Jadzia.
