>On April 29, 2011, fans were invited to participate
in a poll to determine which was the more attractive:

>Ezri Dax, or the achingly gorgeous Rain Robinson?

>I was so smug. Rain would destroy Ezri ... surely! Wrong.
Ezri Dax's victory was near-total. I've always suspected
that there was some trickery afoot to account for this
discrepency in logic and taste in beautiful wymin. But
direct evidence of such never eventuated ...

>

Either that poll was done on April 1st or the "people" that voted are idiots.

Well I saw that poll -- now I remember -- but did not look at it. And it's WOMEN, not WYMIN. The latter is demeaning.

I personally preferred Jadzia Dax than Ezri Dax, although Ezri soon became a character that I was very fond of and thoroughly enjoyed in DS9. I'd enjoyed & watched six seasons of Jadzia Dax so I guess I saw more facets of her personality/character development, more scenarios/stories she was involved in, and basically good old fashioned screen time (hours) with her character & portrayal of Trills than I did with Ezri, however, in the short space of time Ezri was around she very much became well liked by me, very much indeed. To think in 1 season of DS9 she became very much part of the fabric of DS9 is no small feat and worthy of our respect, the DS9 writers & Nicole De Boer (Ezri) deserve all the credit for that.

I thought it was an interesting character/species-arc of DS9 to kill off one character then have it resurrected, but not quite the same as we were used to. Smashing idea as far as I was concerned.

It's always sad to see the death of a favourite character in your favourite TV programmes/films etc., but it's a necessity and is a staple diet for any drama series that lasts the length of the likes of Star Trek. If you were fond of them you actually miss them like they were a member of your family, and it certainly helped me ease the feeling of loss when Ezri entered the fray after Jadzia's demise. Usually after a short while you kind of forget about the character that was killed off, but with Ezri Dax, there was a constant reminder that there was once a Jadzia Dax.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if a new Dax will appear in any possible new Star Trek series, and I personally believe it to be a great idea as then I can compare the new one with two past characters instead of just one and hopefully come to really like the new Dax for what he/she is and remember Ezri with the fondness that I still reserve for Jadzia.

In TNG, people don't like Pulaski, partly because she only had one season. Yet it doesn't seem to be the same in Ezri's case.

Well, for what it's worth, I like Pulaski. I'm not so fond of Tasha Yar, but at the same time am perfectly willing to acknowledge that almost nobody was very good in the first two seasons of TNG. The difference might be that Ezri came on towards the end of the series, whereas Pulaski and Yar were there at the start.

Putting Ezri on the show was the stupidest decision they ever made on DS9.

She was completely unnecessary. DS9 did not need a scatterbrained neurotic in its final season.

Dendodge ....

In view of the recent Avalanche of Harsh Criticism Ezri's received,
you may wish to retreat to the relative safety of the beautiful,
the delicious, the Crowd Pleaser:

Nah.

I've got my Real Girl (as a friend, anyway), and I've got DS9 and The Dead Zone on TV every day.  I don't need any women with weather-based names to keep me happy.

A pole like this isn't really fair because Jadzia was there for 6 seasons and Ezri only one so people were used to Jadzia.  99% of the time that is question asked the pole will always go Jadzia's way, because of this I think we should close this pole as asked and answered.

Jadzia is much better by the way....there were considerably many more Jadzia episodes that were well written, and only a couple of episodes that made Ezri interesting.
