(Alas, probably an idea already breached in the past.)

But I'm just curious, who here is a Romulan fan? Do you think they're amazing or can you stand to live without them. Discuss your likes and dislikes about this enigmatic species ;D

We had a thread on Romulans and Vulcans some time ago:

I wish they had been fleshed out even more than they were. I remember being excited that Romulans were going to be the villain in Nemesis then we ended up with Boba Fett and some Nosferatu.

Are you sure it isn't time for a colorful metaphor?

I don't mind Romulans, but then I don't really like them, either. They actually bore me somewhat.

I love space Romans!  I love that they allow us to see what Vulcans are like without control.  We have klingons to attack us haed-on, but Romulans shoot you in the back.

And those shoulder pads were EPICLY 80s!

There are other races I kind of like a little more of course... ... but I like Romulans. Actually they are arrogant like Vulcans, except that they are arrogant in an interesting way.

Whom do I like... um...

Cretak
Vreenak
Some of the Romulan crew from Face of the Enemy
Unnamed Romulan lady from that DS9 two-parter
Chairman Koval

I also thought it was funny seeing Marc Alaimo as a Romulan. Even though he was only there for a few seconds' dialogue and the episode Neutral Zone was not a very good one.

And in Pegasus, the Romulan commander (What's his name -- Surol? I don't know how to spell it.) Trouble is it sounds a little too much like "Cyril" and who's going to be scared of a Romulan guy named Cyril??!

xDD in the beginning I thought the eyebrow ridges made them seem a bit peculiar. But I got over it pretty fast, in fact I came to like them. And I will have to agree with Servalan on the shoulder pads though, they were kind of embarassing, to me at least.

I actually kind of like their outfits in Nemesis. But then again I've always been into tighter clothing, not for that reason...>.>

I LOVE VREENAK 8D (dances)

I love that Romulan like no other, oh geez. He shows up in mutliple fantasies of mine...and head-stories that haven't been written. I don't think I'm familiar with Cretak, but Tomalok bugs the snap out of me.

I like Bochra to ;D He's cute.

When you say the Romulan lady she doesn't happen to be blonde does she? If so I think you're talking about Sela, the daughter of Tasha Yar and a Romulan Commander. She's actually based off of of a book called "Vulcan's Heart." I own it, very cool.

There's also Denotra and Tal Aura, a senator.

Oh yes. The shoulder pads. I keep imagining someone threading a rope through the back of the Romulan uniforms and stringing them up like tinsel.

No. I know Sela, and I'm not really fond of her.

The one I'm talking about is really unnamed, and from the DS9 episodes In Purgatory's Shadow and By Inferno's Light. She's played by an actress called Carrie Stuber (i think) and is a fellow prisoner at the Dominion Internment Camp 371 where Tain, Martok, Julian, Worf and Garak are being held during those episodes.

*26May: Edited for I typed the wrong name of someone. Oh well was most likely close to midnight when I did this post.

OH geez, I didn't even see any Romulan women in that episode o.o All I saw were men xD Then again I was focussed pretty hard on the relationship between Worf and Ba'el, it was cute. So I might have to watch it again...:3

xDD lol, sticking them up on popsicle sticks. You could do so much with those things.

no no no -- you're thinking of Birthright!! (Next Gen season 6) That's the one with Ba'el in it. *Great character also* I'm talking about a season five DS9 two parter.

Thanks to ST09 we have edgy biker Romulans with tats and minimal ridges. No more shoulder pads!

I love Romulans simply because they are what Vulcans fight their whole life not to be, emotional nut jobs.

I believe all the series should have casted the Romulans more. Its like in DS9 when the Dominion were going to attack through the wormhole, it was Federation,Klingons, Vulcans and then the Romulans arrive just on time and when they did, I was all fuzzy inside.

...I've heard that Romulan's appear in DS9 rather frequently, though I've only seen a couple episodes that have them (2.)

But hearing you talk about the Romulans, "Arriving just in time." Makes me want to go and watch them all just to see them xD I also agree that they should have casted the Romulans more, it would have been a great moral booster for inter-species relations ;D
