Even their Roman contemporaries thought of Christianity as being a sect of Judaism -- and it is true that the bitterest long-time enemies of history are often most similar to each other. Look at what has happened between Protestants & Catholics if you are after an example!

Chuckle.

Perhaps I am arguing the wrong point?

How can I put this? Hmm.

Already covered that the first century Christians were not all Jews, and we do not have hard numerical facts about the genetic makeup of the congregation, seeing as no records were kept about race for the obvious reason that race did not matter.

The sect thing is really a small point, and one I guess I will concede. Again popular perception does not determine reality.

The key is that historically, the first century Christians stopped following the Mosaic Law, although preserving several key issues (ie no idols, no fornication, no consumption of blood). They also did not require their men to be circumcised, which was a requirement of the Mosaic Law. They did not answer to the Sanhedrin the supreme Jewish Court of its day, and they did not join the Jews in their rebellion against Rome. They did not continue to look for a Messiah to restore the earthly Kingdom of Israel.

They also (at first anyway) did not follow the traditions of men. They (at first) did not even address their leaders and teachers with honorifics such as "Father" or "rabbi".

Over time sadly they drew further away from the Bible. The majority of Christians became followers of Greek philosophical ideas, and man made thought constructs.  In this part of "Christianity's" development they actually started becoming MORE like Judaism which to this day still honors both the Torah, and the oral and written traditions of everyday men.

Historical lessons aplenty.

Ok. I am off to learn basic facts.

Chuckle

Seeing as you refuse to acknowledge the Biblical and historical facts I have already presented, I am not going to argue this with you further.

I guess I should have known better than to try to enlighten a person with the name "Bite_Me"

Let the bridges I burn light the way. You are special, just like everybody else. Calling an illegal alien an ‘undocumented immigrant’ is like calling a drug dealer an ‘unlicensed pharmacist’

Oh wow thats awesome! What a great idea. I wish I could do it but at times like this I despise my moral compass!
