If Judgment Day doesn't come, can we sue and imprison the liars?

Which judgement day?

It's predicated to happen every couple of years.

The interesting thing about the May 21st crowd is that a couple have been asked to sign contracts that would hand their properties over to charitable organisations on May 22nd, since it's definitely gonna happen this time, right?

None have done so.

Is that doubt I smell?

Sorry, I just can't send money to anyone who cannot spell lieu.

Anyway, eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow we die!

Well, possibly the day after, since I'm busy tomorrow.

It's education: "End of the World" are probably the only words that these people know how to spell.

If a group announces that Judgment day will be (X date) they are exercising their rights of freedom of speech and/or religion.

You as an individual have the same freedom to believe their announcement. But unless they physically coerce you into detrimental behavior (selling your home, giving away all possessions, purchasing things far beyond your ability to pay) or you can prove that you were mentally or emotionally coerced into doing so (a very very difficult tack) that group may be morally and ethically reprehensible, but they are not legally liable for any damages.

All of us should use our powers of reason to decide if what we are learning is based on a trustworthy set of facts and a reliable source of knowledge.

The majority of people who claim a specific date for the end are nominally Christian - although in doing so they ignore the Bible's clear statement that only God knows the day or the hour.

If "Christians" choose to ignore the holiest book of their "faith", that is not my problem.

The rest of people who declare some kind of end time are simply acting on a human desire to see an end to the intolerable conditions which currently exist.

I for one am a man of reasoned faith, and believe strongly that God will bring an end to the current madness , and will do so at his own time and choosing. I do not look for a particular date, but am determined to simply be ready.

I find it sad that people mock those who do believe in God or have a faith in something beyond human reasoning.

Those are the same kind of people who would refuse to believe that the Earth went around the Sun. You have to admit that you do not know it all, before you can begin to learn.

True.

...Although you might also have to learn how to admit to not knowing everything, so one might say that the learning process begins first, and advances only with the admission. Then again, babies are learning every day and they don't have the vocab to admit to anything yet. Perhaps the problem is not the inability to admit to not knowing, but that our cones of "knowledge" are full of vanilla icecream before we have even noticed the rum n raisin just along the aisle.

Babies naturally accept that they need new knowledge to survive.

There is a latent desire to learn built in to all of us. None of us need to "learn that we are ignorant". We are built in with that knowledge. It is in our basic "programming"

It is only with time that we can choose to become ignorant and arrogant.
