About once a month the holodeck crashes and kills someone because of a well documented buffer overflow bug that's been in Windows since 1986.

>Maybe it's the other way around actually. Both the Mac and PC are descendants of federation tech as we learned in voyager episode "future's end" the computer revolution came when henry starling cannibalized a ship from the future.

I like this though. A LOT of technology ideas we use today came from star trek. A LOT.
But otherwise, it's totally MAC. It's super obvious.

I am not so sure that the enterprise is only mac or pc but a robotic hybrid of some kind. It is a smart ass computer like data. In the show if I remember correclty data is a mystry to federation enigneers. In the real world and in star trek it "should" be impossible to have technological mystry. However the more we discover about our "natural / spiritual world" the technology will conform - in the wrong hands - serve or war with this nature / spiritual. I believe the old god as the same a the new gods, humanity is to shine forever it all comes together in one ball of balzing glory for us I feel,or a winkeling of an eye? Baby steps and we will be zipping around the solor system and then some -on radio waves in no time, for some privliaged few, however, I feel. There is a super ton of work to be done in the world and we need a on objective out sider mind to get things done I feel. This is the super question from the ancients to today, and what is humanity to become. Mac or Pc is not really imporatant. What is available to the earth that is super fucntional and freedom suppporting is. Selfishness and greed and loving the almighty dollar are the evil that need to be corrected in us.

I'm not sure how exactly La Forge stated the whole idea, but I'm certain it goes something along the way of seeing Data being functional again after system shutdown. Which gave him idea of memory wipe of all data within ship systems back to the date when everything was operational. The date is a gloomy part.
It reminds me a lot to System restore in Windows. But I think that show was even before system restore existed, I'm not sure though.
On the other hand, if you incorrectly shut down system on Windows, by cutting off electricity for example by plugging it off, data would be lost and all system settings would be back to point when system was properly shut down. But I'm not sure it would wipe out the virus.

Except hardware issues, I haven't seen a Windows computer (server or workstation or phone) crash for years. Nor have I had any of the computers I manage crash due to a Windows OS issue.

Watching DS9 again, a lot of the handheld devices seem oh so much to look like iPads.
The Federation equipment looks and stylish and user friendly - Mac hallmarks

Come on' it's the Federation, they have no money. So they use an open sourced Linux distrobution. I'm assuming Fedora.

First in TOS and early is is PC because I like to think that the computer had a mind of its own,
Then the Fedaration went to Mac because the started to find out that their symstem didn't work.

Macs have a more human-centered versus user-centered design interface. Human-centered interfaces are usually more social rather than tech centered and have an easier use- look at gadgets like iphone, the newer Macs, and ipad. Based on the looks of the console panels and the ease of use of ship and station computers and holodecks, I vote Mac.

If we look the hardware, there is not big difference between Mac and PCs (in the past we say IBM compatible eheheh).
About software... iOS is Unix with beautiful GUI, so the safety and stability of the system is better than windows OS. For a military/navy/space application is necessary i think.
For this reason i say Mac...
