M.D. Is indeed Medical Doctor. Think of Henglaar as House in space. With House being a Tellerite. My faves so far are Star Trek: Diplomatic Relations, Henglaar M.D., and Lost Frontiers. Of Gods and Men is the best fan film I've ever seen. And my favorite storyline is the last four episodes of Section 31: Invasion (the Dalek/Borg war).

Of Gods and Men? Eh, It was okay. But something about the fact that Chekov and Uhura are in it bugs me, not sure what. That and I couldn't get into the storyline.
I like "Pheonix," and I wish there were more than one episode. Though I do dislike the echo-like sound through the episode when I'm trying to watch it, very annoying after awhile. And the ears on T'Von and the other Romulan seem to bulky to me, not so much like the original. Alas it is "fan-made."
xDD House as a Tellarite? Oh dear lord, I'd love to see something like that. Do you have a link that I could have? I adore house, Hugh Laurie is epic on so many levels, and to imagine him as a gargantuan pig-humanoid is fabulous.

As to the issue of fanfilms: It comes down to the same thing -- free to watch. I guess also that they aren't making money so have to make do as far as makeup and FX go. But then I can't watch any without maxxing out the download limit on my internet connection. And even youtube is very stop/start for me.
The audio / podcast based stuff is good although the pacing sometimes feels a little off. (Particularly with the addition of footsteps between dialogue.)
And... I still need to read more!

i love reading (and writing!) fanfiction - as long as they´re in the spirit of the series. mere fluff is utterly boring. so are the majority of mary sue stories.
unfortunately, those two genres make up a large part of the st fanfic fandom. still, i´m very happy with the scarce jewels i´ve come across over time. and still find. some of them truly surpass the quality of the average official st novels...
