Exactly, Picard is what a REAL starship captain would be like, a real leader delegates his authority...Picard clearly showed he never had to leap out of his chair, BEAM down to every frakin planet with only his two friends, while the rest of his crew did NOTHING, get his shirt torn, sleep with every alien BIMBO, to be a great leader, because he IS the best.

You just summed up everything I dislike about Kirk.

>Picard. He is very serious, a true leader who was unquestionable authority over his crew. He can fight, speak Klingon, lead battles, break the rules when neccessary - and he dares to do it (e.g.Insurrection)

>there are so many more things I could write about him, but simply he is the best. His character should be an example for making choices in real life - always be reasonable and let emotions decide only when your logical voice within allows them.

These are the reasons I've grown to NOT like Picard (liked him a lot more when I was younger). Too perfect...too self-righteous, too preachy. I prefer a hero who is more like a real person, someone who has flaws and weaknesses to battle and overcome. Picard was just a poster-boy for the perfect Starfleet officer. There's nothing dramatic or exciting there...just dull and static.

I'll take Kirk or Sisko over Picard any day. At least they evolved and matured as leaders and as human beings through the course of the franchise. Picard was the same guy in "Nemesis" as he was in "Encounter at Farpoint.

Do you see many Barclays commanding the flagship? No. Because (as Kirk says in some form) it takes a "special kind of captain to command a starship". Picard is not perfect because he's the captain, rather, he's the captain because he's a lot closer to perfect than, say, Dexter Remmick from Coming of Age and Conspiracy.

I have great respect for Picard. He's not that much fun, but he's got a good sense of ethics, a moral center, a talent for violating the Prime Directive with style, and he has more emotions than Kirk does, in my opinion. Of course, Kirk spent most of his time around a Vulcan. Some of that Vulcan-ism was bound to rub off.

'Impossible' is a word that humans use far too often.
