The shadow characters are lame and due to an extremely low budget.  The animation may be poor, but many of the stories are quite good.

Yes - but you can forgive them that. I have actually watched a couple late at night when my eyes have been closing and found they play quite well just like audio books - y'know just the music, sounds and voices.

>I agree, considering TAS the fourth season of TOS. I don't even know why it was given its own board.

Well because - like the films - it is a different format.

I'm happy with the arrangement

>i absolutely love both, but the animation in tas was horrible even for that era. the zoomed out little black figures running was laughable. but i think they were targeted to kids weren't they?

Watch any cartoon made by Filmation at that time, it was the same. TAS wasn't an exception, it was the standard. Singling TAS out for it is almost a disservice.

it may have been the same as other filmation stuff, but the reading up i did said that filmation was a bit behind everyone else at the time because of normally low budgets. don't get me wrong, i still love and puchased the complete show. i just wish it had been taken more seriously and they hadn't tried thier best to 'kiddie' it up. like tos, they should have just given roddenberry a bunch of money and left him alone.

I was reading the wiki page on it. Check out the part under 'Production' about putting a cadet with each cast member. I just thought that was pretty funny. And yes, I know the Nimoy story with the other cast members. He said it kept the ethnic diversity in the show.

TOS! TAS was good, but the episodes were to long and didn't have the "oomph" that TOS had. I suppose it was good in it's day. And I liked how they put Uhura in command in "The Lorelei Signal"

Aren't the episodes only 30 mins?

Um... this is a completely unfair poll. TOS win.
Win
. I've recently come to my senses, and TOS is now my number 1 ST show, with DS9 as a close 2nd.

It's funny that TOS is winning, considering this is the TAS board.

TOS has to win it is a live action 1 hour program aimed at adults.

TAS was 30 min of Sat morning entertainment aimed at children.

TAS is definitely the poor cousin of the franchise.  It's sad ANYBODY voted for TAS.

I like TAS I remember catching shows on a cable channel I used to try to figure out how many parts Majel and Doohan were playing in each episode
