ya no way trip should have died. it needed to be soemthing like commander siscos death on Star trek deeep space nine and definetly a different character than trip if someone absoloutely had to die. he was the third charles tucker and so i think the seiries could have made him like tom paris..... gets into a relationship or something. plus killing him off is like stopping the family line. its stupid.

>The original idea for Trip's death was to have him become an undercover spy during the Romulan War if the series were to go on another season. Alas, it wasn't meant to be, but I believe the ENT books picked this up. I just started reading the Romulan War ENT books, so it'll be interesting.

>Being the show was being cancelled, though should have cancelled his death as well.

No they just wanted to kill the Redneck. That whole sequence did nothing but piss me the hell off.

I agree that Trip did NOT have to be killed off of "Enterprise". He was one of the most popular characters of the show. All it did was to anger & alliante even more "Star Trek" fans.

I think that Trip should have lived. I think that the writers were either just trying to go out with a bang (pardon the pun) or try to compensate for the one-hour finale by trying to make people not think about it.

As this is going to be my first post here I've decided to make it about TATV and Trip's death on the show. Having just recently finished watching all 4 seasons of ENT I cannot begin to comprehend how the writers/producers ended the series with such an abysmal episode. Honestly the show ended for me at Terra Prime.

Trip's death was completely unnecessary. Nothing more needs to be said.

Now I did hear he survived in the novels. Can anyone who has read them reveal what happened? And are the novels considered to be official in this regard?

I read the novels but I don't want to "give it" away to anyone that hasn't read them and wants to. All I will say is that they take the bitter taste out of your mouth about Trip's demise. Is it considered official? That I don't know but considering that ENT is not on the air anymore and I doubt it will ever be back, I consider it official.

Haven't seen this episode yet, so no opinions yet, but I do have one major question.

When the heck did Star Wars kill off Chewie?

CHEWIE DIED??? Foget THAT! says this onetime huge SW fan. But, as it's in the novels, not canon....as was the death/almost death of my beloved 2nd fave STV character, Kathryn J. But, to the main point here, and to add my reply, HECK, no!! it wasn't. Trip was, and is, one of my favorite STE characters. TATV might have been okay-sans Trip's demise-as an ep set elsewhere, but, NOT as the wrapup to the show. I do like Will and Deanna, but, they sucked the life out of the episode via the focus upon them. This was supposed to be about the last adventure, a nostalgic, warm outing, showing our beloved characters after acheiving what was by then a survival through that brutal Romulan War....and we didn't even get to see Jon make any of that speech..though, I DO give credit to B and B, for the scene in the waiting area between Jon, T'Pol, and Phlox. I really liked that. Trip should have been there, grinning proudly, crackin' a last-minute joke, to ease his best friend's tension...yeah, I need to go do a rewrite on that.....!! But, KUDOS, to Martin and Mangels, for ''The Good That Men Do''..the 'fix' we ENT/Trip fans deserved.....TRIP LIVES. In our hearts, in pro fic, in our fanfic. And Long Live Enterprise.

If the series was finishing up at the end of season 4, Trip would have lived. I also beleive Trip and T'Pol would have eventually continued their relationship

I never felt that Trip's death brought anything good at all. It has always seemed to me like it was an afterthought because the series was ending. He was my favorite character because he always seemed so down to earth. Haven't had a chance to read "The Good That Men Do" and I'm curious about how that was written. I can tell you my husband didn't like it at all.

Killing Trip nulified the hope there might ever be an ENT movie. Instead they decided to make another Kirk Movie, though this time withouth the originals (ofcouse as some are dead and the rest to old).

I think the ST writers should get bloody Kirk period out of their heads ... and should have focussed on the newer crews.

Now they are planning a new ST movie with the new Kirk crew,... rightly so as they need to repair the damage for the destruction of Vulcan (if they will).... but I think they should have given the DS9 crew or the Voy crew a change to make a movie too.

Kirk already had several.

Picard had several.

What about Janeway, Sisko or Archer.... I think they desevre a movie too! These were 3 of the best series paving the way in this century for lots more Startrek legacy.

....

After TOS, the movies made sure Star Trek would never be forgotten,... and they paved the way for TNG. That was a great succes.

I think they should let either the Voy crew (though difficult as Janeway is now an Admiral, and who knows where the rest is) or the DS9 crew ... make a movie....

Perhaps combine the DS9 crew and the Voy crew ... in some bold new movie paving the way for a new ST series.

Scott Bacula was awesome. I loved him in Quantum Leap, ... I loved him in ENT, one of the best Captains in ST. A great scifi actor, beyond any doubt. Perhaps he should deserve a movie too. But from the looks of it,... that now will never happen as for the next few years we need to consume these new ST movies (though I did love the first one).

How many years do we have to see Kirk movies,... before we give the later series Captains a fair deal and give them a movie too?
