Well that I have to agree with. I still haven't forgiven that whole T'Pol-served-Eather's-Starfleet-not-the-Federation-Starfleet-so-Spock-is-still-the-first-Vulcan-to-graduate-the-Academy-and-serve thing.

Well they wanted to go back to a 'more TOS feel' and what is more TOS than Vulcans and humans?

The NX-01 should have ended up MIA.Earth's First Starship lost then the Earth Romulan war then the five year missions.

The ship should not have been named.

Then a tie in movie with Riker on the Titan finding the NX-01.

They could have wrote different trek for seasons and never worry about contiunity

I think if they had followed the book storyline of Trip going to work for the early Section 31 then that would have been a good way to go and would have explained the 'killing' of Trip much better.

Of course that's just my thoughts on it.

Was it necesary? I don't think so. I wasn't unnecesary either, but then again the epside didn't feel right with me either. i won't go as far as others as to say it was horrible, but it seems unfortunate that no one represented the TOS era, since they had TNG in there.

I don't think it was. Usually a series ends with a powerful two parter, so that was a break in tradition I didn't care for up front, and it seamed rushed without a larger set up. But one must admire him for it none the less.

It isn't the death itself we complain about as much as the setup for it that made no sense.

I was quite disappointed with the way he died. He was supposed to be from Texas for cryin' out loud. I think they were just trying to wrap up the series with what they had. Heck, the way that his clone died was better than that.

Texans apparently don't die saving others, lol. It's okay, us Floridians apparently don't fare much better. I just hope that after the Xindi attack, IF they decide to rebuild Orlando, they consider making it more commuter friendly.

His existence wasn't necessary.

But to answer the question, no his death was not necessary. It added nothing to the plot of an episode that never should have existed in the first instance.
