Isn't it about time that a new updated version of the STE be relieced? The last edition of the STE was relieced in 1999, two years before Voyager ended, and 3 years before Enterprise began, nor does it contain any information on the last three movies. So is it about the for the Okuda's, or someone else that was associated with trek, to finally reliece a new eddition of the STE?

The one that is out covers all of the series in the same time-line.

Maybe JJ will put one out for Enterprise and his Trek.

Yeah, I'm reading it now and I do think that it needs an update. I'd like to see some information on Enterprise in there.

Goodbye. I am gone.

alright then wolf, tell me what pages i find information on Echeb, Transphasic Torpedos, Tom and Torres's Baby girl, the ECH (Emergency Command Hologram), Unimatrix Zero, and Friendship One. these were all major parts of the last two years of Voyager, which you claim was part of the official timeline, so if the STE is good enough the way it is where are they at?

and yes i did ask this very question on another thread, i will be waiting for the answer on both threads.

We have Memory-Alpha and Wikipedia, but I'd still like something to put on my coffee table.

The information is not on the database here why would it be in the book the Data came from ?

So, in other words, it does not cover everything in Voyager, therfore it does not cover everything in any time-line at all. Hence, it is incomplete. Hence, an updated encyclopedia is in order.

though the first part i do not agree with as it is the bad logic of a certain troll (and once he stops acting like one i will stop calling him one), but on the second part Hence the reason for an updated version of the book.

I say no because we have memory-alpha and beta now so an encyclopedia is useless. The online ones are updated regularly and free!

That said, there are numerous trek reference books we could use. There is a thread about this in the books and products sub board. Please give us some contributions there.

respectably i have to dissagree with you Matthias. The STE is a hard copy of everything star trek. suppose that someone somehow sneeks a virus into the mainframe of one of the online sites, or somehow the entire system crashes for those sites, then that info will be lost, while the info inside of the STE will be safe.

as for other reference books, aside from tech books none of them can even touch base with what the information that is inside the STE (and i only exclude tech books because of the detailed info in them about the innerworking of the ships they are about). this is how the STE was designed to function, and for this reason, as well as what i already pointed out about the web sites, is why it needs to be updated.

The information in those sites can be altered by anyone, and, as such, often contains incorrect or inaccurate data.

Yes.  While online references are great to have, its always nice to know a hardcopy of Trek's facts, etc. is out there for alternate use.
