So if you're young like me, what do you want to have for your career? Other stuff you'd like to accomplish?

For other people, what did you want to be when you were younger? How'd that turn out for you?

I've always wanted to be an astronaut....... but I suck at math really bad...... so I don't know how that's going to turn out for me....... but I also want to be a professional runner. I'm excited for high school to see how I'll compete with the big cheeses. I've always wanted to be a science fiction author also.

The one thing I was sure I wanted to be when I grew up was to be a father. Did that three times, and now they've made me a grandfather five times.

I far as a career, I wanted to be a chef. I even went vocational school for culinary arts. I've done a lot of things since then, but I've never worked in the restaruant industry! Go figure. My goals have never really been career oriented. 

Because I know you are young, I'll say this, the average person switches careers an average of seven times in their life. As we experience life our outlook on life changes, so it's natural that our goals and desires may change as we grow.

Do what you love. Do what you can live with, what you can sleep well at night with doing. (or when ever it is you sleep)

Haha, when I was little I wanted to be a ballerina really bad. I just can NOT imagine myself as a dancer right now!!! I am SO ungraceful! But I think most little girls have gone through that stage where they want to be a ballerina.

LOL! when I was your age I wanted to be Travolta in Saturday Night Fever! I'm no more graceful now than I was then.

LOL! A long time ago I went to a production of Saturday Night Fever....... I didn't understand any of it........ I just liked the cookies at admission.

When i was really young i always wanted to be in voyager!! At the moment im aiming to be a pilot!

xk9261s - What kind of scientist are you?

A geologist. Then I grew up and found that geology is boring. Then I wanted to be an architect, went to school for that and found that most jobs in architecture are mind - numbingly dull. 

Chuckle. Now I am a waiter, and I have done very well for my family in this career.

I cut lawns cleaned barns.

I delivered Newspapers.

I caddied (sp)

I was a Dish washer cook,bartender and bouncer

I have been a guide and a Wrangler at a dude Ranch

Gas Station attendant.

Tropical fish and exotic pet wherehouse person and med tech.

I have driven professionally both freight and people

Grounds keeper

I am a trained Union Electrician.

i saw my first real computer when I was in the 3rd grade - it was the size of a table and had less power than a standard calculator we use today.  I started asking a bunch of questions - more than what it could do, but how and why.  I was hooked and have been playing / working with computer since then.

A scientest.  Possibly an engineer.  I've always had a nack for science!!!

I'm at a point right now where it's going to be impossible to find a job I can live with.

See, my Grade 11 class went to something called Career Fair back in February, and it basically allowed us to see presentations about the jobs we were considering. Those presentations were given by professionals.

Thanks to Career Fair, I found out that I do not want to be an artist, a journalist, a radio-announcer person, a news worker, a designer, an actor, a scientist, an architect, nor anything else that was listed at Career Fair. Career Fair also revealed that I do NOT want to go to University.

In short, I'm hooped. I'll probably just end up working at a McDonalds or a WalMart like a few of my classmates already do. Really, all the things that I may have once considered making a Career out of are going to remain hobbies.

I became something I never planned for. 

Wanted to be a fighter pilot. Bad eyes.

So I learned how to shoot them down. Go figure.

Used my skills to have a 20 year career. I don't hate it, but it's just a job. 

NDA prevents me from telling any more about what I do. 

When I was young I wanted to be a scientist, a chemist, or an archeologist ... then recording engineer, author, actress, special effects artist or a psychologist. Now after being a baker, a cashier, a training coach, telemarketing sales representative, quality assurance representative and a jail deputy - I'm FINALLY studying to be a psychologist. I have about 4 more years to go, but I'm determined to do it. People have told me that I'm already an agony aunt, I might as well get paid for it.

Wanted to be an MD.

Achieved my goal (mostly) last year.
