DS9 considerd "dark"

DS9 was set out to be different from aTNG and TOS. DS9 was supposed to be dark; look at the lighting, the stories, the destruction, the ways the "heros" skirt the edges of doing things that would not evn be questioned in the other series, and finally the finale. Yes, DS9 was darker in tone.

There is a moment, I believe in one of the Maquis episodes where Sisko talks about how is is easy to be a saint when you live in heaven, meaning Earth, that about summed it all up.

It started off being much darker than STNG, but it lightened up at times.  I loved their comic episodes the best!  But, DS9 did seem a bit more realistic than the more idealistic STNG.
