>homosociality?

>

Homosociality is men hanging out with men and women hanging out with women. The Victorians were VERY into it.

Homosociality does not necessarily lead to homosexuality although homosexuality is a specialized form of homosocial desire. In fact, "gay-bashing" is itself a homosocial activity that is seen to bond men (or at least the "real" or "right kind" of men) together.

Ancient Greece was another extremely homosocial society, however in their case homosociality did not express itself in homophobia, instead homosexuality was seen as a legitimate expression of m/m (and to a lesser extent f/f see Sappho) affection.

I think the Victorian obsession with forming a "properly homosocial" society (a way of desexualizing a society when heteronormativity goes unquestioned) certainly delved into homoerotic undertones from time to time.

I was given assurances that KING SOLOMON'S MINES
is about a world where men were REAL men ...
and wymin were REAL wymin! Where adventure has a
name and that name is Allan Quatermaine!

What can be more safe from left-wing, liberals and
homosexuality than books about hunting Big Game in
the wilds of Africa? A book I could really lose myself
between the pages of. This book HAS to DELIVER. It MUST!

You should try Ray Bradbury if you haven’t already, though no as or always sci-fi, many sci-fi fans enjoy his work as well.

Thinking about reading Tad Williams Otherland series again, it’s been a few years.

Personally my favorite, and probably in the top 10 authors ever, hopefully.

The man is a genius.
