There were several officers who betrayed their oath to Starfleet and violated Starfleet ideals.  Discuss who was the worst betrayer?  I left out Picard/Locutus because he had no control over himself and Seska because she was a double-agent from the beginning.  I may have left someone out. Please explain your choice.

Michael Eddington (DS9: For the Cause) #4
Calvin Hudson (DS9: The Maquis) #4
Admiral Leyton (DS9: Paradise Lost) #1
Rudolph Ransom (VOY: Equinox) #5
Luther Sloan (Section 31) #6
Ronald Tracey (TOS: The Omega Glory) #3
Valeris and her co-conspirators (ST VI) #2
valeris and leyton tried to take over the federation itself or create nonsenes war with the klingons.

Tracey tried to keep the secrets of youth for himself.
Eddington and Hudson joined terrorist groups
Ransom was not bad since he was trying to get his crew home. Is it wrong to kill alien life forms that serve as fuel.
Finally section 31 guys i never count as traitors cause their jobs are shady to begin with.

I think Ro Laren should be included.

Captain Ransom was the worst, killing creatures to get home was really bad. I mean how many of you would puree your dog if you ran out of gas in your car and it could get you home faster?

Are you sure it isn't time for a colorful metaphor?

that's different. You're still on the same planet. It's different when you're stuck 60,000 lightyears away and chances are you'll never get home.

Valeris and Colonel West. This one bugs me the most because they did this at a time when the Federation and the Klingon Empire were trying to make peace. On a personal level because two of Starfleet's finest were implicated in a crime they didn't commit. And Spock was betrayed by his protege.

I heard a rumor that originally the traitor was supposed to be Saavik but was rewritten into Valeris as not to upset the fans. That would have been kind of interesting considering she was once a prisoner of the Klingons and witnessed the murder of David Marcus.

yeah saavik would've been interesting. That would've hurt spock more since she was like a daughter to him.

Yeah, how did I forget about Ro?  Still, if I had to compare Ro to Eddington, I'd say Eddington was worse.

Don't forget to add the theft of several large scale replicators meant for Cardassia after the Klingon invasion, and framing Cassidy Yates as the traitor to Michael Eddington's list of crimes. That, and liking Les Miserables way too much.

Well our government has things like eminent domain where they can take your house to build something even if it's something useless like a giant stadium, doesn't make it right.
