Tough question.  I'd have to say Picard because he wasn't too impulsive and didn't comprise his values.  He was a natural leader, the kind of guy you always want to follow and never disappoint.  I think he was more open to, not only hearing alternate suggestions, but actually considering them if they were valid.

Janeway is a close second.  She held up really well with the hand she was dealt.  I didn't always agree with her desicions, but I think she also had the most impossible situations of all the captains.

Janeway. Why? She managed to save her ship after being stranded in the Delta Quadrant. She kept her ship and crew together long enough for them to surivive. Captain Janeway seemed, to me, to be the most realistic of the Captain's.

Kirk is my favorite because he had pizzaz. He could fight better than all the other trek captains. He had humor. Wasn't afraid to lose his shirt. Also wasn't afraid to cheat to win.

Sisko is #2 runner up since he can be brutal. Like destroying terrorist bases. He liked to yell a lot. Sisko could be treading the dark side and not be bothered by it. Broods a lot. Also can fight.

Favorite Captain: General Martok

Coming from the lowlands of Ketha Province of a common family, he was denied entrance to the Klingon Academy.

Through Honor and Integrity, he rose to become a General in the Klingon Defense Force, and later the Chancellor of the Klingon.

Kirk is the best he would save the universe 5 times and still be home in time for cornflakes.

Are you sure it isn't time for a colorful metaphor?

Kirk, the original. Then Sisko, Janeway, Archer and finally Picard.
