I have seen a lot of discussion about this but have not seen a whole thread for it yet, I used the search function to make sure. So what do you think about the new theme song?

though many didn't like it, heck i admit that i was one of them at one time, however i when i heard it i came to realize that it fit in extreamly well with the series, as it gave voice to the path that needed to be traveled from Frist Contact to the birth of the Federation.

I admit that it did take a while to get used to, I mean having a theme song with lyrics and all, but after watching like halfway through season 1 (thats where I'm at about now) I have decided that I really like it. It's a good song. I have it on my iPod now.

i mean the theme was terrible, you have to agree

if you would have read what i wrote in the first reply on this thread you would not have even asked that question. as for you not being the only ones, well so far, at least on this thread, it is split down the middle on that assumption.

I love the theme. Honestly I wish the other series had theme songs with lyrics. Something else I always wished for is that if the opening credits didn't have lyrics, that they would use footage from the series of the various actors and their characters, and every season the opening credits be slightly different and slightly new, like how Joss Whedon did Buffy and Angel. That would've been awesome.

I already told it before - the theme song is extremely appropriate for the series. It was very logical to put it there.

Or music!

Seriously, this MOR drivel is the sort of thing you'd hear on The X-Factor. It sounds like something Elton John might have written but was too ashamed to release himself.

I can see some people might like the song, but in any case it was a piss poor choice for the theme music for any Star Trek show. Instrumental music is always best in these instances and orchestral music at that. I understand the original series theme tune originally had words but they were sensibly dropped. ENT's theme song was written by Diane Warren and sung by Russell Watson and was also the first theme not to have been composed specially for Star Trek, having previously appeared in the film Patch Adams (1998) sung by Rod Stewart - so it wasn't even original or specially written for ENT.

In some ways the non-original recycled nature of the music is a microcosm for the programme itself.

The beauty of DVDs is you can spin forward through it - or just turn the sound down...

Hated it, and actually thought it was some kind of joke or something at first.

Did not care for the slow version, but loved it when they sped it up a little. My family thinks it's a catchy tune with meaning.

I liked it.  The montage of pictures fit with the words of the song and the theme of the show.  Personally, I would not be swayed one way or the other about the quality of a show based on its theme song or lack of one.
