Exactly, and more to the point - as my recent revisiting of these shows has struck me - they reinforce just how important the original series was ... how it was and always will be the real deal Star Trek.

Even just listening to the voices of Shatner/Kirk, Nimoy/Spock, Kelley/McCoy, Doohan/Scott et al, reminds me instinctively that this is real Trek and the later things just watered down legacy tributes ...
