Adorable face there, Doc. And this is my contribution. Has anyone ever seen a more compelling photo than this? It's Brent with his godson, Gates' son, but he looks so much like Data here, down to the pointed sideburns.

Wow, that's... somwhat scary.

Has anyone here watched the three ENT episodes with the glorious Mr. Spiner in them? Isn't it weird to have him playing the bad guy?

I didn't view Dr. Arik Soong as a bad guy. In fact, his desire to find genetic cures for disease and to ease suffering in mankind was quite noble. He simply got off on a rabbit trail that lead to conflict with Federation policy regarding the Augments... for that, he was imprisoned. Soong stubbornly believed in the good he was doing, and for that, I cannot fault him. Brent played him sensitively and wonderfully, so it was possible to see the good in the man.

Hmm, until recently, it was easy to see all three of these episodes on TV.com... still checking, but they seem to have been removed. What a shame.

Brent appeared in Enterprise episodes "Borderland", "Cold Station 12" and "The Augments"... catch them if you can.

Dr. Arik Soong, I presume?

they're on youtube. I downloaded them from there using mp3rocket, so i can watch them on my iPod.

Good point, Tal. I should have put "bad guy" in quotes.

love the pic by the way.

Tsk. Tsk. Mustn't steal the man's work, you bootlegger, you.

Calling Arik Soong a bad guy is fair also. He was meant to be a conflicted, somewhat unhinged individual, capable of doing anything to meet his objectives. I didn't see him as nice. Face it, he was a jerk too. I could understand his motives, though... thanks to good writing and Brent Spiner's well-rounded performance.

When a person has no money to spend on iTunes, sometimes she must resort to drastic measures to get the glorious Mr. Spiner on her iPod.

Actually, Soong's personality, i.e., his ego, and belief that what he was doing was right reminded me a bit of The Doctor. Maybe that's why I liked him.

I understand. Desperation drives us to do what we must do for a fix. Brent Spiner is like a drug... ingest too much and find yourself bouncing off the walls -- clinging to the curtains like a deranged monkey.

I liked Arik Soong too... especially loved the way he pasted hand-written notes all over his cell walls. Too bad he didn't have Twitter, like Brent.

And posting things you later regret... (sorry for bringing that up)

I've always wondered about that episode- how did he get those papers on his cell walls? I find it hard to believe that the guards would hive him tape or tacks or even glue, because I bet he could find a way to use them as a weapon.

Back on topic!!!

Random question- I read somewhere (can't remember where) that the glorious Mr. Spiner's middle name is Jay. Can anyone confirm or refute that?

No worries about bringing that up, Doc.... I am me, and am bound to run off the rails from time to time.

Confirmed. His middle name is indeed Jay. He mentioned it at the Emerald City ComicCon just this past weekend. Brent also seems to have a fascination with names... he likes to remember them, and often plays with them too.

Thanks, Tal. Did you go to the ComicCon? I've always wanted to go to one (originally to meet the Mythbusters, but now to meet varoius ST actors).

No, I did not... but Elfie was there. She was kind enough to share her experience with us generously. Watch her videos on YouTube. They will take you there, and you may hear her laughter as you go... that was a delight.
