What it does powerfully suggest to me is that animation may well be the way to go in future ...

I mean if this slightly cheesy imaged, 20+ minute 70's cartoon show can manage to project a message and quality way above what you might expect from such a medium (and I think we all generally agree it does), then imagine how good something like that might be today.

This why I believe TOS series should be redeveloped as an animation show (of Avatar quality) set in the post TMP period. If such shows had great stories, good voice characterisations (finding near-perfect mimics for the original voices - some of which sadly are no longer with us - some of which are possibly a bit too old and deep now) as they surely would ... it would be a real hit.

Besides which - it has been tried and tested before!

And I find it interesting how well they were able to do a good star trek story in 25 minutes.

I also think of why we saw so little 8472 in VOY was they were expensive to integrate. By going all animated, you can have those crazy aliens and worlds without having to merge the actors with the CGI.
