Didn’t like him in Star Trek, whinny little nerd.

I do like him as a pompous ass in Big Bang Theory. Even more if he is really like that!

Oh my... Wil Wheaton plays a character on both shows, and actually is one of the nicest people I have ever met, not to mention hilarious.

He is basically Evil Wil on The Bog Bang Theory, similar to his character on The Guild. Real life Wil Wheaton is wonderful.

Jolan Tru, may your day be filled with peace.

First, let me say that if you liked Wesley and thought he added to the show, I think that's fantastic.  Enjoy him and don't be bothered by what others think of him.  And I'm sure Wheaton's a great guy.

Having said that, I'll try to be more specific about why I didn't like him.  His Wikipedia entry sums it up better than I can.  I've bolded the essence of it.

"Many fans, including Wil Wheaton himself, considered the character to be a Mary Sue and a stand-in for Gene Roddenberry, whose middle name was "Wesley". On TvTropes, "The Wesley",[1] a trope describing a character who is liked by the creators but disliked by audiences, is named after him.[2]

Some fans disliked the idea of a young boy who seems to constantly save the whole ship. Commentators have observed at least seven times in which Wesley, "who has trouble getting into the Starfleet Academy" and is on a ship "filled with Starfleet's best and brightest crew members", has come up "with the needed solution".[3]

There was even a Usenet newsgroup created called alt.ensign.wesley.die.die.die.[4] "

And the only right place for Sues is his/her author's head or drawer.

(I almost got into plak tow, when I saw Wesley's photo in that link. It's not my fault- I am just not into Mary Sues)

Agreed.  The caption of the TVtropes photo is priceless:  "How bad his he?  The actor who played him hates his guts."  The more I read about Wesley Crusher the more I like Will Wheaton.

As a Stephen King fan, I 1st saw Will in 'Stand by Me.' I watched TNG BECAUSE of Will Wheaton being so cute! I felt sorry for him that he lost his father, but between Picard, Riker & O'Brien, he had plenty of men to emulate. Ifeel that sending him w/ The Traveler was a great way for him to leave. It left open possible guest appearances later, which, unfortunately never happened.

I never cared for Wesley, his character never made sense to me... why is some 16 year old kid sitting on the bridge of Starfleet's Flagship? I don't care how "gifted" he was, he had no place on the bridge.  Besides, after being given more opportunity in Starfleet than most officers ever got AND at such a young age, he throws it all away and runs away with the Traveler? I guess ill never get it.  I don't hate him, I just don't get it.  Nothing wrong with Will Wheaton's acting either, just the way the character was written into the series, I never was able to really like him like I did the rest of them.
