This is the episode that planted the see in my brain about what things would look like if they re-animated this series to bring it up to todays standards. That alien ship would be gorgeous!

A CGI remastering of the series would be great.

Why does Spock give a second by second countdown from 90 seconds till impact? It is kind of distracting.
The alien ship in this demonstates the superiority of animated or CGI as opposed to models. They couldn't have done something like that in TOS.
The life support belts are ingenious. It gives them a personal forcefield so they don't need space suits. I'm surprised this concept was never used in any of the live action shows.
The episode has an interesting concept that would later be copied for STV. Sadly, you don't get the chance to explore whether the creature was evil or just desperate after being alone for so long. But I guess you can only do so much in 25 minutes.

I thought the life support belt concept was PERFECT. Why in the 24th century do people still have to wear bulky EVA suits? That just doesn't make sense.

The lifesupport belts may have been a cost saver, but so what, they are believable technology. A personal shield generator that keeps atmosphere and pressure on the body. Genius! It could have been used in the later live shows and I would have been fine with it.

I'm assuming the belt had O2 canisters and CO2 scrubbers.
