As I said in that thread, don't have any Trek audio but read Stone and Anvil that way. It had sound effects and aliens were quoted with weird accents. The reader does a lot of sci fi and was very skilled/

I've tried doing audio books - for the most part, I can't keep my focus on what's being said and my retention / comprehension is lower. Maybe if I lie down, close my eyes and try it, then it would be better.

I only use them when I'm driving or exercising. I can't just st/lie there and listen to audio books. I prefer them for the commute though. i wish they would make more of them.

I LOVE THE AUDIO BOOKS, I got all the Shatner ones, The Return, Avenger, Dark Victory, Shat does a great job with the reading, makes it feel like live episodes, The older books are good too like "The Entrophy effect" read by Leonard Nimoy and James Doohan.

I have one audio book. I heard a bit of it on QVC and found it at a local bookstore. 'Best Destiny' if I remember right, and James Doohan was fantastic!! I even got the book and it was fun to read it and 'hear' Mr. Doohan in my head ^_^ I'd love to get more! I have the Spock vs Q CD and I love that one, too! Although that one isn't technically an audio book, it's still fun to listen to on the drive to DIA and back

There were some Star Trek Excellsior stories (about Sulu as captain) that were produced only as audio tapes. I have them and they are pretty good. Make good use of sound, including some stuff that would be really impossible to do in prose. I think they were going to do a whole series, but sales weren't great and they only made two.

And if you think it's hard to find cassette tape players any more, don't try collecting the old 45 records from the 1970s
