>Just finished "Rollercoaster". I read chapter 60 and 61. I wish I'd stopped at 59, as the instructions stated. Now, I'll have to read "Orpheus"... must have happy ending! Still, I don't regret reading those last summary thoughts. They tell you something rich and deep about Data, the essence of what he is and was.

>"Rollercoaster" is excellent. The story takes you back through the entire series, with special emphasis on Tasha Yar's point of view, had she lived and stayed in the action. Lots of new Data material here... much of it from his point of view as well. It's like watching new scenes in every episode. The dialogue is spot on. I could hear everyone's voices clearly as I read... what a treat. Excellently written and engaging, like a series of short stories with an overarching plot. Very highly recommended! (Glad there's a sequel too!)

>I was always disappointed that Denise Crosby decided to leave the show. This book finally allows us to see the episodes as they might have been, had she never gone. Loved the concept. Enjoyed it thoroughly. Thanks for telling us about this one!

And Orpheus isn´t finished yet...

If (like me) you enjoy fantasizing about how the "friendship or maybe something more" between Tasha and Data would have continued in case Tasha´d have stayed, perhaps you´ll find some pleasure in a story collection of "The Best of Data and Tasha" I created at ffnet. It´s not simply every story about them - I try to keep a certain quality standard, so not including the mere fluffy pieces on them. Believe me, there are some real jewels in there!

By the way, what were your favourite parts in Rollercoaster? I even made a picture of Tasha in a long pink dress. That part was so hilarious! When I read the story, I hadn´t seen those eps yet by far. And I still think Rollercoaster´s version was so much better than the original! As happened in several cases. "In Theory" was much more fun with Tasha still around, too. As well as "Conundrum" (giggle giggle) I remember I was regularly LOL-ing while reading that story! And other parts (Data´s trial) got far more tense. I loved how she reacted there!

I found out that "Orpheus" wasn't finished yet, but at least Data is back. I hope Mistress Scribbles will see fit to finish the story. She's such an excellent author.... found myself reading everything she'd done about TNG, and loving it!

Yes, yes. I am like you. Always wondered what could have developed between Tasha and Data. Well, now we know. Thank you ever so much for the link. I was searching for more!

Favorite parts? Well, the sexy bits, of course. Glad it wasn't too graphic. I thought it was done just right. I think the part when they didn't know who they were and yet were still drawn to each other was rather tantalizing. Would have loved to see the expressions on Data's face in that scene. I guess I did, in my mind's eye, but it would have been precious. Ansd yes, so much was in keeping with the humor we all came to expect... Data forgetting his shoes in Yar's room after rushing to dress in his crumpled uniform for his shift. I could just see him padding back to the door in his socks. So many charming bits, it's hard to isolate them. That's a damn good author... and she's got just the perfect way of carrying it all off. Everyone stayed in character, yet she made it all completely believable. I'd like to think it really worked out that way for them, up to chapter 59, that is.

Then again, there's always "Orpheus"... this could be very interesting indeed.

LOL You go ahead and stare and drool!

I had noticed indeed that he looked older, more mature at the end of the series than he did in the beginning (hardly unexpected of course), but I hadn´t been looking for exactly when the transition (if it was from one ep to another) did take place.

So this is what the Data from Track A in Q-Squared looked like!

I still like him better as Data though :-)

Oh yes, the man is gorgeous... and he has perfect teeth. Something we couldn't appreciate in the Data makeup. LOL

You know? I think we all prefer him as Data... once we got used to that calmly expressive pale face, we didn't want him any other way.

I admit I haven´t started on Orpheus yet. But she really is an awesome author. Keeping everything and everyone in character, with the same mix of humour and seriousness we know so well from the series.

The Rollercoaster story would not disgrace the official Star Trek library, as a giant novel or something. Wouldn´t we just love a story like that published as a book?!

There is one lady here who openly professes that she likes Brent better than Data.

But I, too, think Data is just perfect as he is! Yes!!!!

Rollercoaster is definitely a book I would buy, and yes, it is worthy of being Officially published!

Hey, I wouldn't kick Data or Brent out of bed... guess I'm just slutty like that. Too bad there are so few of him and so many of us. Replicator, please!

LOL Maybe we should start bombing Simon & Schuster with requests to publish it. :-)

If you know Mistress Scribbles, be sure to give her my best... and feel free to quote me. I really wanted to cheer her on. Hated to sign up for that site just to leave a review, though. Would S&S be willing to publish something that's, technically speaking, already published online?

Haha, yes, that’d be me! But Data is indeed perfect the way he is, as is Brent. Man, I really need that time machine!

Even in a black & white photograph his eyes draw you in, I have a serious problem with starring at my desktop background and getting lost. Marvelous!

^ paranoia has set in.

It's strange, being a catalyst for things that move outside.
