Data was the last original and great idea anybody ever had for Star Trek.

His creation, his adventures, his back-story - all interesting and well thought out. Only his eventual demise was a let down.

Sadly, after introducing Data - nobody ever had another really inspired idea for developing regular featured Star Trek characters, although there were plenty of interesting guest characters.

The inspired period for Trek characters begins with Spock and ends with Data...

The Doc was good - but Data was brilliant.

Besides which, by the time Picardo appeared a lot of the groundwork for artificial lifeform (of whatever form) humour had already been covered.

Data was the icing on the cake in TNG because it was a good series made great by his presence.

The Doctor was a lifeline to Voyager ...

When it comes to the greatest of hologramatic characters one need look no further than Rec Dwarf's Arnold J. Rimmer (2nd Technician) ...

Sometimes I wish that I was like Data. not having emothions would sure help right about now...

And as for the Doctor being a lifeline to Voyager, well, I dunno. I loved Voyager even without The Doctor in some of the episodes. But I can't watch TNG without Data.

I haven't seen much of voyager, but what I have seen I love the doctor.
Enterprise I don't really see a character like Data or Spock on that show

But the Doctor should definetly not be forgotten (:

This discussion makes me wonder about the new ST movie for what next year

Voyager has the Vulcans Tuvok and Vorik.  In the episode titled 'Blood Fever' Vorik passes on the Pon farr to B'Elanna. It is pretty funny how she wants to tear him apart when he suggests they mate.  It is also the episode that helps the fledging rmance between B'Elanna and Paris.

live long and.....

I dunno... I never really like "The Offspring."

"Data's Day," "Datalore," and "A Fist Full of Datas" (except for the end...) were always my faves.
