Name the Doctor

The Doctor never really found a name for himself. Only in the last episode 10 years after Voyager was back on earth, did he really have a name. But during the series he never could make up his own mind about it.

So let's decide on a name for him.

State his name, ... and why you would like to name him like that.

I'd actually prefer to see him remain nameless.
Since he couldn't decide on a name for the duration of the series, I think that it would be almost strange for him to gain a name. He seems more unique without a name than with one.

Anything would have been better then... Joe...

The name given by Dr. Danara Pel, wasn’t bad, Schmullus. At least it was unique to Voyager.

Out of ALL the names in the galaxy he chose... Joe. How creative. I was fine with him remaining nameless, to be honest.

I thought he should take the name Zimmerman. He highly respected his designer and it pained Zimmerman that his favorite creation was quickly replaced. Zimmerman came to respect the doctor and in the books they developed an almost father-son relationship. With Zimmerman not married, without kids, and a recluse it makes side the doctor would take his name to establish a family connection and honor his creator.

I think he looks more like a Joe than a Suresh, lol.

Which brings up a question to me. Would you expect the Doctor to change his appearance? Would he indefinitely keep the same appearance matrix or choose a different look to change who he is our how he is perceived, maybe to not be a carbon copy of his father?

I don't think he would change, especially if he didn't do so before the eventual death of his creator.

I'm so used to Schmullus too. In the back on my mind that's how I refer to him, but Zim does sound cooler.

Well if he actually "marries" a human, i would hope that he'd age his appearance at least somewhat over the years. Even though he alluded that he'd do otherwise in the series finale... i think seeing his wife at eighty or ninety years old might change his mind.
