In today's world, I don't think trek would have to conceal their message as much. Today also has just as much conflict and unyielding sides as the 60s; probably more than the 80s and 90s. I think we could use trek set at a time of unrest to help people think about opposing viewpoints and to hope for a peaceful future where mankind is a unifying force.

Trek was a comedic form of Sci-fi. Opposing viewpoints weren't sought, but the questions about our humanity were.
I keep stating this. ST. is not about other's out there, it's about us being in the "Captain's" seat, that delve along the childhood and upbringing line's. Dealing out there is dealing within ourselves. The journey is out there and with ourselves. That is why ST. is profound, because it helps us to grasp ourselves and the environment that we are in beside's other internal issues.

It's strange, being a catalyst for things that move outside.

Agree!

Anyway, Disney has an awful lot of really good movies as well. But I must admit I haven´t seen much of them in the past - what... ten, fifteen years? But those I remember from the sixties and seventies... wow! That kind of quality wouldn´t hurt ST one bit!

And please, people: Disney is more than just Mickey Mouse & Co!

Not a big fan of Disney movies... but "Pirates of the Carribbean" series was great, looking forward to the next movie May(ish) this year. They could probably do a good Star Trek Movie/Series... but Star Trek doesn't seem 'Disney-like'...

I wouldn't be exactly against the idea. If that would mean putting star trek themed weekends, rides, shows and areas at Disney World/Land. They did with Star Wars and I have to admit it's not bad at all.

I disagree, part of trek's job is to inspire the youth. Heck even the kennedy space center visitor's center devotes a lot of space to little kids.

i'm just sayin..if disney starts puttin out trek movies they are gonna be all "kiddy bopped" out..no real action (thats too violent for the kiddies)..and so on. i rather see trek move on with someone that is gonna keep in in the grit of the way the federation has moved into. disney cant come through..i would bet on it.

One damn minute, Admiral.

I hope that disney doesn't take over trek. I agree with the kiddied bop part, that's how it is! I really would not like to see the mouse in the captains chair nd wall-e replacing data(don't get me wrong I LOVE the movie wall-e). Id like to see someone like niversal studios take it over nd then a lifesize enterprise ride be put in the park lol . The money would be good but I honestly think it would be the death of star trek if disney took t over

I think that Disney is going to take over the whole world someday. Pretty soon, they'll start to own everything like the major food companies and stuff like that... they may even get into the White House someday! Lol
