Quote: Beershark @ Jan. 22 2011, 7:05 pm | >The Planet Of The Apes TV series! Mark Lenard was a regular cast member as General Urko, and I just watched an episode called "The Surgeon" which had the actor that played Roger Corby. Also, as a side note and not ST related. The episode "The Legacy" stared the young actor that would go on to play Kelly Leek in the original Bad News Bears. |
Just had another sighting on The Planet Of The Apes. The blacksmith in the episode "The Horse Race" was played by Russ Marin, who also played two different roles in ST:TOS. Dr. Simmon Vangelder in "Dagger of the Mind" and Cpt. Tracy in "Omega Glory".

Yet another Planet of the Apes tie... in the movie Beneath the Planet of the Apes, James Gregory plays General Ursus. James Gregory was also regularly seen on Barney Miller as Inspector Luger... and on Star Trek TOS he played Dr. Tristan Adams, director of the Tantalus IV Penal Colony. He also appeared on M*A*S*H and was another one who worked on Twilight Zone. http://www.google.ca/imgres?imgurl=http://www.mediamercenary.com/POTAimages/Actors/JamesGregory.jpg&imgrefurl=http://celebshot.net/2010/11/07/James-Gregory.html&usg=__WvrW7cn9deyoVGkg-doZ83h9NUg=&h=400&w=528&sz=22&hl=en&start=0&sig2=hbf6PzXDwUGNvcfbntfOBw&zoom=1&tbnid=r-XgkUlRV_JQ1M:&tbnh=113&tbnw=150&ei=D9A9TdeGApKesQO86_yVAw&prev=/images%3Fq%3Djames%2Bgregory%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%26biw%3D761%26bih%3D366%26tbs%3Disch:1&um=1&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=224&vpy=66&dur=3484&hovh=195&hovw=258&tx=120&ty=114&oei=D9A9TdeGApKesQO86_yVAw&esq=1&page=1&ndsp=10&ved=1t:429,r:1,s:0 http://www.google.ca/images?hl=en&xhr=t&q=james+gregory&cp=0&wrapid=tljp129589659654400&um=1&ie=UTF-8&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&biw=761&bih=366

Ray Walston who played an influential man 'Boothby' to Picard (and also appeared in Yoyager) had a long history in show biz. He played 'Uncle Martin" on "My Favourite Martian" for three years in the 1960s. He was also in such bug time movies as South Pacific (1958), The Sting (1973), Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982), and like Brent Spiner also did a little time on Night Court. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ray_Walston

I´ve recognized a few in TOS from Hogan´s Heroes - mostly guest characters in both series.
Harry Mudd appears as a (rather ridiculous) Nazi general somewhere in the first season.
T´Pring (Spock´s intended) plays Hogan´s recurring love interest: Marie Louise Monet, aka Tiger.
Hanar (By any other name)/the first guy to be killed in The Naked Time equals Sgt. Olsen.
I know I´ve seen more; just don´t remember them right now.

This isn't an on camera note, but the movie Mission Impossible III was directed and co-written by J. J. Abrams. He is also has been working on Mission Impossible - Ghost Protocol which is due to be released this December. He also created, executive produced, directed and wrote Alias for TV, did much of the same role and co-created Lost and Fringe, among many other shows.
Simon Pegg (Scotty) BTW also has a role on Mission: Impossible III.
