Wow, man -- that's some serious praise!  All I can say is that I think you're really going to love the series' next three installments:

Star Trek Vanguard: Declassified (anthology) - June 2011

Star Trek Vanguard: What Judgments Come (Dayton Ward & Kevin Dilmore) - October 2011

Star Trek Vanguard: Storming Heaven (David Mack) - June 2012

[quote]Book 1: Harbinger (I tired not to ruin it if you didn't read it) I want to thank you guys who read these, including David Mack himself, for encouraging me to pick this up. It was a great read with only a few bits that didn’t work for me. I will definitely pick up the rest though it bothers me that the Kindle downloads cost as much as the cover price though the book is out of print and the old paperbacks are much cheaper; you would think lowering the cost of out of print books would help readers get hooked for the newer ones.

I did love book one.

All praise for Vanguard is well deserved.

I'm watching "That Which Survives" for the first time right now.  Both M'Benga and D'Amato are in it which is interesting.  Having read VAN 1 first, I was especially touched when D'Amato was killed.  That poor man and his tragic life.  VAN 1 also helps you understand why Kirk seemed more touched by his murder than all the others that happened during away missions.

>Vanguard has impacted my online life. I cannot click a "submit" button without thinking of T'Prynn.

You mean how she just started stripping in front of Pennington?  Lol

No, because that is what Sten always shouted at her in her mind.

If you want to speak of HOT T'Prynn scenes, I prefer the one when Anna pulls her dress up in her office and they go at it on her desk.  Yowza!

You really should finish.  You never know what details come back later as important in this series.  They all have pretty good cliffhangers too.

I just finished all 5 main books, and loved them all. Some better than others of course, but the overall story is simply addictive and makes me want to read all the books in a row over and over.

The blending of original characters with others from canon t=Trek is always down cleverly I believe, but the original characters can all stand independantly, specially Cervantes Quinn and Tim Pennington. Never thought I'd find non Starfleet individuals as or more interesting the the regular Starfleet-ers.

The last great surprise I got from the books was the Star Trek V connection the 5th book goes for. i won't spoil anything, but I think it is masterfully done.

The series lays a foundation for many elements within TOS and the movies.  I especially appreciate the Gorkon tie-ins.  And spoil away!  That's what the warning is there for.

Vanguard is getting love and attention over at trekbbs.  Lots more readers over there if you want some good book discussions.  For some reason, that site also attracts more authors than this one.
