So I just started reading the New Frontier series by Peter David. I actually bought one of these books about 5 years ago. Unfortunatley it was the 14th book of the series. I ended up reading it anyways and really liked it. I haven't really ever gotten into a star trek book series. I figured this was a good one to start with. I just purchases a nook and downloaded all 18 books of this series. I started book #1 last night and will finish it today.
Just wondering who else has read this series and what you thought of it.

I have long been a fan of both PAD and of NF. I currently have kindle for PC and have been collecting books slowly in preparation for getting a Kindle. I have the first three NF Books and the last three (well last two, the most recent one prior to the release this april I still need). I've read them all and take great delight in them. To my mind Trek Lit really came into it's own when it started exploring novel only series, and stopped being mere shadows of the shows and movies.

I looooooooooooooooooooove Peter David, Calhoun, and New Frontier. I'm excoted cause Peter David will be in Florida next month. Calhoun is like having Kirk in TNG times. I love his cowboy kick-butt and take names way of command. I also think he has great villains, especially the Redeemers. Just so you know, one of the hardcover novels comes with a disk with all the prior books on it. Can't wait to have another NF fan in here.

I couldn't agree more. That's a big part of why I never really got into them previously. There was so many shows and movies, I never felt the need. I'm glad to find some new and exciting material and stories.
Peace and long life

Haha, Yea I like Picard and all, but I really do miss the cpt. Kirk's style of command.
I've actually listened to the first four books on tape, but that was a few years back. I'm going back through and reading them now. I can't wait to get to book 5 and beyond.
Peace and long life

As I said, the Redeemers are excellent. You will especially love the 2 books with Apollo's brethren as well as Calhoun's solution to the Kobiyoshi Maru

Oh now you want to borrow them? You wouldn't listen to me, but you listen to Koon Ut Kalifee 4Me? I guess we need to balance the scales, eh?
BTW, Peter David is coming to Vulcon sci-fi convention in Tampa at the end of February along with Marotk and Gowron. I asked David Mack to attend, told him it is the same weekend as the next shuttle launch so a good time to come to Florida. Definitely attending that one, especially if it were to work out that I could meet the 2 best Davids in Star Trek!

I've only read one of these books. I loved it. I really want to get around to reading the whole series but I can't seem to find the books online, in the shops or in the library.

Please post thoughts on the books as you read them. I've read them all twice but enjoy the refreshers and discussions. Heck, maybe we'll get lucky and Peter David will chime in like the 2 Davids did for typhon pact.

New Frontier is great. I've read all of them at least twice. Don't forget to read the other New Frontier stories that are not "numbered" books.
House of Cards (1)
Into the Void (2)
The Two-Front War (3)
End Game (4)
Martyr (5)
Fire on High (6)
Once Burned (Captain's Table 5)
Double Time (Wildstorm comic) (explains time discrepancy between 6&7)
The Quiet Place (7)
Dark Allies (8)
Excalibur trilogy:
Requiem (9)
Renaissance (10)
Restoration (11)
Cold Wars (Gateways #6)
Death After Life (short story in Gateways #7)
Being Human
Gods Above
Stone and Anvil
Pain Management (short story in Tales from the Captain's Table)
After the Fall
Missing in Action
New Frontier Turnaround (comic series from IDW)
Treason
Also:
Stone Cold Truths (short story in Tales of the Dominion War)
No Limits anthology
I liked the No Limits anthology because other writers took a turn with the characters and did some interesting stuff. Peter David writes a fun book, but sometimes it can get a bit ridiculous. At least he's not afraid to kill off characters, etc.
