What exactly was the point of the facebook and twitter tie in? I don't see what this brings to the site? Wanna fill us in admins or let us speculate?

That's what I don't like. Facebook its becoming Big Brother and wants its fingers in everyone's pie.

Facebook Connect was added to the site to allow Facebook fans easier login access. More StarTrek.com users come from the official page on Facebook (www.facebook.com/startrek) than any other site. Many Facebook users just wanted an easier way to share comments and participate in the boards since they are already activiely engaged on our Facebook page.

That makes sense to me. Thank you, sir. I comment on the star trek fb page. Of course there I use my real name so it is a little different. But then, it does seem that this site and fb mirror each other. Plus the star trek administrators post interesting topics on fb but not hear, which doesn't seem right. Of course, the fb gets more participation than here for some reason. Though it is mostly just one way posts, no active discussions which isn't as much fun or useful.

If startrek.com posts questions for feedback or to generate interest on fb, why can't there be admin administered polls here to generate not only numerical feedback but point-counterpoint discussions from active fans that could be used to create a more useful, multifaceted marketing approach?

There are polls every week on the homepage and many of the FB questions are based on or inspired by the threads here. Fans on this site are already engaged in these discussions and often start the discussions/polls within the board area on their own (and we love that and it's one of the reasons fans can start their own polls in the board area). It is simply easier for many people to post comments on Facebook because that is where they are spending most of their online time.

There's just one little problem: Since the big Facebook button was added, I ahve been unable to log in on my BlackBerry. I know very few people browse that way, and "the needs of the many..." and all, but is there any way to restore mobile browsing, and retain the Facebook functionality?
