How did the make up department make those Vulcan and Romulan eyebrows? I don´t suppose they shaved off half of them before sticking on the fake Vulcan ones, did they? Might work for long-term Vulcans like Spock, but I don´t see guest characters agreeing to that...

google it?

There comes a time when the odds are against you and the only reasonable course of action is to quit... That's when you turn to Star Trek.

It's even more noticeable on Quinto, who usually has very thick eyebrows. Look at a picture of him from before the movie, and then afterwards--the ends of his eyebrows are a lot cleaner, because they aren't real

They´d better not be too picky about how they look then... Thinking back how many Vulcans and Romulans we´ve seen, and all those actors for a week or two with half eyebrows... I remember Deanna Troi had double eyebrows when she had been transformed into a Romulan - I suppose she refused to have them shaved ;-)

The eyebrow would indeed be shaved at about the halfway point, then using spirit gum, fake hair and some trimming would be used to create the Vulcan arched eyebrow. Look at pics of Leonard Nimoy during TOS and he often has half-eyebrows while out of costume.

There's an episode of 'Get Smart' that Nimoy is in, that was filmed around the time of the First Pilot, I think. he's got the early-Spock haircut and is wearing a BIG PAIR of shades.

I've never noticed: did they shave the brows of the Vulcan/Romulan guest stars, too?

Some others just seemed to have fairly normal eyebrows with just a slight upturn at the end - particularly the men. I guess this was a good working compromise. BTW Hawklord are you a fan of the music of British spacerockers Hawkwind?

This URL shows the process, on Leonard Nimoy,

One of the female movie Vulcans (either one of the Saaviks or Valeris) refused to have her eyebrows shaved, so went without the Vulcan eyebrows, IIRC.

You're welcome, sir! It's a great
site, actually. And Dendodge, you
are correct. Kirstie Alley's eyebrows
went unmolested, for the part of Saavik.

For the part of Valeris, however, not only
did that sexy Kim Catrall shave the sides
of her eyebrows, she also shaved the sides
of her head, over her ears! I suppose you
could say it's a "sexy" look, in that Kim
was delicious enough to pull it off ...

does nothing for me, though.

I think they use a special type of paste/wax and then make up on top of that. That's what they did on Doug Bradley in Hellraiser.
