And iBorg13, not to correct ur vernacular, Pulaski's not a fag, she's a bull-dyke! huuuuuge diff! lol did you ever wonder if she was gonna pull a craftsman tool out of her cabinet instead of a hypo-spray? lol And I haven't been here long, but I just noticed this is the first room I stepped in that every participant was in agreement play the twilight zone music plz! lol

TNG desperately needed Pulaski, because the other characters were too bland and there was no interpersonal sparring or conflict between them. Pulaski shook things up. She was, along with Admiral Necheyev, one of the few characters who would (justifiably) challenge Picard's tiresome moralising.

I actually pretty much agree with you completely on this one, 2takes.

Yes, Csillan_Rose. Unsurprising.
You'll find yourself doing more
and more of that, as time goes on.

I enjoyed Dr. Pulaski, it would have been nice to see her return for a guest spot later in the series/movies. But Dr. Crusher is the best.

"Truly, these times of ignorance GOD overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, because HE has appointed a day on which HE will judge the world in righteousness by the MAN (LORD JESUS CHRIST) whom HE has ordained. HE has given assurance of this to all by raising HIM from the dead." [Acts 17:30-31] http://www.intouch.org/god

Dr Crusher should have had Dr Pulaski's personality. She should have been hostile to Picard and should have been his foil when he made decisions and moral judgements. On the surface it would have been stated that she harboured old anger towards Picard because she blamed him for Jack Crusher's death (which should have been explored in more detail), but ultimately we'll discover that Picard is Wesley's father, and her anger towards Picard stems from regret and guilt over that affair. Eventually, they would come to terms with their history and move past it.

^ I thought that's the way the series was going to go myself. But they had Picard and Dr. Crusher have that "so near and yet so far" thing going on, probably for a bunch of reasons. Although Dr. Crusher does come pretty close to getting pissed at Picard several times, she never really flat out argues with and ignores his orders, does she? She just 'appears' to have a weaker personality than Polaski. Can you imagine if Polaski was Wesley's mom when he was sentenced to execution that time? Lol. She'd throw a wobbler, not get upset and leave the room.

Dr. Crusher does ignore Picard's orders a couple times, actually. an episode in season six comes to mind first. and there are plenty of episodes where, if she's not disobeying orders, she's just plain pissing him off for the soul purpose of pissing him off. I think the difference is that with Crusher, it's "cute" and comes off as playful because of their chemistry. Whereas with Pulaski, there was no chemistry, so it came off as rude and pissy.

I personally can't stand Pulaski at all, she was just a filler for season two. In fact, I disliked her being there so much (or maybe I disliked Crusher NOT being there), I haven't watched season two since my very first watch of TNG ten years ago.

I don't think being sensitive means you have a weak personality. Her compassion is what makes her a good doctor and a good mom. It's also what made her character work so well with the show and with Picard. Though, I agree it would have been interesting to see more drama between the two which led to a confrontation about guilt over Jack and Wesley being Picard's son. But I've gotten over that in the past years and have decided that Jack being Wesley's dad just makes loads more sense. I try to leave the "what ifs" for the fanfics.

anyway, not to get off topic, I hated Pulaski and it was a joke having her replace Crusher. Almost insulting. Like, somehow this character was supposed to make up for the absence of Beverly Crusher?! I don't think so!!

I absolutely HATED Pulaski! For one thing, Beverly is my favorite character (with Wesley being a very close second), so when she left for an entire season and was replaced by the annoying Pulaski, I was very angry! And it didn't help that Pulaski was always so mean to Data, who is my third favorite character.

I also hated Pulaski in the beginning, but over time I grew to like her. Sure I prefer Crusher over Pulaski, but she did have her moments.

I just always thought it was basically the writers trying to make TNG more like TOS so more people would watch it, but then when nobody liked Pulaski, they brought Crusher back.
