Which class of Federation ship has the largest crew onboard?  Is it the Galaxy-class?

Thanks, tribblenator999! I read that the Nebula-class was supposed to replace the Galaxy-class, but do you think they would phase out such a successful class?

Does the Ent-J count, lol? It's supposed to be like 2 miles long and be generational.

The Galaxy is the only one rated for families too, I believe. So it would have the highest carrying capacity overall. Remember in Generations where the D is rescued by a Nebula, Miranda, and Oberth? I thought, "What is the Miranda and Oberth doing there?" Not only are they seriously outdated, but they wouldn't be able to carry that many survivors!

I thought on one episode, Picard said that there was 5000 people aboard.

One damn minute, Admiral.

Ex Astris Scientia says that the Galaxy is the largest to date (http://www.ex-astris-scientia.org/schematics/starfleet_ships1.htm)

In the episode in which the rogue Ferengi captured the Enterprise-D--when Picard and the others on the shuttle had become like children, again--Riker told their captor there were about 1,400 people on the ship.
