so in your opinion, they should have used cheaper, and crappier, control panels for Enterprise then they used in the 60's for TOS. Yeah, that would have really went over well with the nittpickers.

They weren't going to use the transporters for sentient beings, and they used them right off the bat.

When was that stated? (If you are talking about the Reed/Mayweather scene, they never say that they don't intend to use it, just that they, themselves, are reluctant to be transported)

In the pilot, it was said the transporter was rated for living people but both were reluctant to do it. Yes archer used it in that episode but in the while series, I'll bet they transported less than 20 times. Each time, people were worried that they were put together properly. Ent milked the shuttles. TOS rarely used shuttles. This fits with being a prequel.

I would also venture to say that the connie had more streamlined bridge consoles. The nx looked more advanced, duh, but more rugged. You can't expect the nx to look more primitive than a 60s design. Look at the abrams bridge, it looks more advanced then the nx but less so than the D.

As for the connie being the first starship enterprise. What of the ring ship shown in tmp? The connie was the first federation starship enterprise.

Yes but being reluctant is a far cry from stating that they would never use it to transport a living being.

Hence "rated for living people". They neither said it hadn't already been done elsewhere our that they wouldn't do it (we're in agreement here). If I recall, the nx transporter had a 2 person limit, further making it more primitive.

I am not really sure what the thread originator has in mind = other than getting people riled up - but the consoles and controls on ST: Enterprise were a nice blend of function and style.

I liked the grapplers except in space, it is very hard to keep the line taunt. Nasa had experimented with them and the experiments never went well. I liked when archer asked a vulcan captain about the tractor beams and he refused to say anything.

Since the shuttles had no warp engines, I wish they would have been more aerodynamic.

Not wanting to cause controversy, but I was expecting to see a daedalus-class starship (more "teched-up" than the sixties' crude model) used for this first pre-federation enterprise. Rather, something slightly "pre-daedalus" as the daedalus class entered service with the inauguration of the UFP; something suggestive of the "discovery" from "2001; a space odessey", but more advanced & substantial than that. Something in the era of sphere-shaped primary hulls that preceded the saucer-shaped primary hull era. Oh well, it's fun to play "monday morning quarterback", and "if I had my druthers".

Wow, someone in this forum NOT wanting to cause controversy, lol.

I would have expected a daedalus also, but consider that they are not 'canon', having never been named and only seen as a model in sisko's office. The ent relaunch explains that the daedalus were actually older than the nx, built for warp 3 then refit later. Too bad they never showed them in ent like they should have.
