One problem I always had with Odo was pronouncing his surname . . . Auberjonois? Is it "aubergine-oys"?
Then again, I only recently worked out how to say Nana (as in Nana Visitor), so maybe I should just stay away from names altogether.

Deep Space Nine was top notch for making great characters of depth. Most have great stories, personality and are a joy to watch.

Without Odo, the Star Trek writers wouldn't have created the Dominion, or the fact that the Dominion leaders are Odo's people. Without the Dominion DS9 would have got pretty boring from season 3 onwards.
Guilty as charged: fan fic writer. Go to Ad Astra and search for the author Ln X or the series DS9: a continuation. My fan fic stories are on that site.

Being a shape shifter. How cool is that! Think about it.

I love Odo an insane amount. My only disappointments with the character are relatively minor. #1 They didn't have the budget for him to shapeshift more often and #2 They didn't emphasize the essential gender-queerness of changelings.

One of Trek's greatest ever characters, played by a superbly talented actor.
No serious DS9 fan can possibly dislike Odo.

Odo was pretty great. Like stated earlier he was supposed to be DS9's Spock/Data and I believe it worked well.

I just didn't buy him falling in love. It was just outside the genetic make up of founders in my opinion. I liked his ending, putting him in his element and ending a relationship that wasn't going anywhere.
I understand, and need to check memory beta for this, that in the relaunch books it is found out that the founders were hiding a religious motive in their expansion to find their creator/god. When their god turns out to be something other than they expected, they commit mass suicide, leaving only odo, laas, and relatively few others.

Well being raised with humans as the sentient inteligent creatures, why couldn't he develope some emotion with Kira or anyone else. Being the only one of his kind, before the founders were discovered doesn't alter the fact that he needed affection himself like anyone else.
Though I would agree that in the physical way, especially in sex oriented matter I can't see it, even if he shapes changes doesn't means he can enjoy it.
