Should there be a new Star Trek series based on Star Trek 11?

I think there should be. Former VOY producer Bryan Fuller wanted to do a new show set in the new timeline as well.

The big problem, I think, would be getting those actors on television, seeing as their movie careers are taking off (especially for Chris Pine, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, and Simon Pegg). That's the big problem with that, we might have to have another recast.

The alternative is setting up a new crew and ship in the Abramsverse. I dunno, I'm just not as interested in that. I want to see these actors portraying the original characters!

sure it would sound wonderful. They of course wont' visit any of the planets prime kirk would in his 5 year mission. Since there won't be a alternate sisko/janeway/or picard in alternate universe I'm sure it would be fun if alternate kirk and the enterprise went to the delta quadrant and gamma quadrant. Since they can travel like 5 light years per minute it is possible for them.

two words, HELL NO! this would only confuse and split the fanbase in a way that the old "Kirk vs Picard" debate never could.

Well, that was a huge split that exists to this day. I mean, to this day, I find it amazing that their are thousands of fans of TNG that have never seen or even like the original "Star Trek." I never thought that would happen as a kid. It's pretty ironic when you think about it.

I think the same thing is happening here. Not every TOS fan liked this new film, but I'd wager most of them did. Contrary to the tagline," This isn't your father's ST," like Free Enterprise's Mark Altman said in his review, it pretty much was exactly that. So it's no wonder that the TNG-only/Berman era fans hate ST XI and obviously don't want a new series in the Abramsverse.

That's what I was going to say, I totally agree. A new crew might spice things up a little, and at least rev the audiences up a little for the next movie.

Nope. There should be a new series with NEW characters. Let's not have a pale shadow of TOS in some AU ad nauseum. I want something different enough to be judged on its own merits.
