how dfo you figure that? at least we know for sure that kirk is still alive, but we can't say the same for Picard, Sisko, and Janeway.

They're all still alive, the new movie was in an alternate timeline. The prime timeline and all its inhabitence still exists.

But the joke is still very funny.

not nessesarily, everyone that was decended from the people who didn't get off of Vulcan in time are no longer around. The same goes for any medical advancements that would have been made on the planet by scientists that were lost or decended from those that were lost. So who to say that someone like Picard, who has an artificial heart, is still alive, as a key component of that heart could have been invented by a vulcan that either lost their life or was decended from someone that lost thier life.

I will also point out that vulcan characters like Tuvok might not have been born either as his family might have been on planet at that time (i know many may think this was a good thing, but i was just pointing it out).

tuvok's parents were on a vulcan lunar colony so he'll be born.
