We thoroughly wore out this topic a month back. Most of us do not anymore than we see romance between a mother and her adoptive daughter. Janeway was clearly only into men and there was no ambiguousness intended, ever. Seeing this is merely your fantasy same as kirk/spock, geordi/data, and obrian/bashir. Read the janeway thread here or the homosexuality thread in the general sub forum and let it rest.

hmm... i sense anger. interesting. since i'm new to this... world, i was unaware that this topic had been recently visited. i will check it out. in the mean time, the question was intended to be fun. there is little room for fun here, i see, which is odd, since i like star trek for fun. again, interesting.

You may have meant it in jest but this was the subject of a heated argument awhile back. One of the few that got under my skin. If you see the thread, you'll understand. Some people got too offensive causing some good members to leave.

I'm totally open to this discussion,
lbouldin. For instance, I've wondered
which of the two would be the "boy" in
the relationship, and which would be
the "girl." Janeway's certainly butch
and bossy enough to Take Charge. As well,
7 has learned much, but is still discovering
what it means to be a human female. She needs
Janeway's guidance, which - again - puts Kate
in the Captain's Chair, as it were.

However, if they chose to commit to a "family"
type of relationship, where one would carry
"their" child, it's quite a puzzler, which of
them would get pregentant. But, going with my
instincts, I believe that Janeway - being much
more "In Touch" with her humanity, would bare
the child. And besides, 7's in touch enough with
her feminine side to be vain enough to keep her
hot body sexy, for as long as possible ...

Seven wasn't really in touch with sexuality, I'd say he would experiment with both male and female to find out what she really likes, by the 24th century people would be more open to same sex relationships anyway....At least I hope

I don't see the UFP being as socially and sexually liberal as many think. Morality has gone in waves throughout human society. People 300 years ago were far removed from current values and I would expect the same to be true of a society 300 years in the future. Not to mention how human social and sexual standards would change once entering an inter-alien alliance. If say, other races are highly conservative in this area, humans would most likely follow suit. That is the problem in this discussion in all the threads that it is brought up, few people have the ability or willingness to step outside their personal views and shift to the view of a human in the Star Trek universe, which is far different than the modern world with its social issues and awareness.

BTW, nice thread on this going already that could use more "Trek" related input.

Definitely not hot for this. I hate the whole idea of a Janeway\7 romance. A much better pairing would be Torres\7 but lets face it anything would have been an improvement on what they did on the show and pair her with Chuckles!

I never understood why people say Janeway is butch. Is it her air of authority or is it that Popeye chin? Personally Janeway doesn't seem manly to me. She just seems to be the Mom of the ship. Maybe she is simply past the stage of life where all she thinks about is being cute and attracting men.

Can't resist this: Who is the 'boy' in the 7of9/Chakotay relationship then?

hahahahaha...

now we're having some fun. thanks, guys. to respond, i don't think janeway is butch at all. on the crontrary, i believe she is quite feminine, and would have much to offer any suitor, male or female. there is no denying that she and seven shared a special relationship, and to most, it remains what it was probably meant to be: that of mentor and student. i think janeway saw a lot of herself in seven. whatever it was, we all know she felt a connection and a responsibility to guide seven back to herself.
on the other hand, for those of us who dare to take it to the next step, whether just for fun conjecture or really because we believe there is something more there, the idea of the captain and the babe provides that ultimate fantasy... two strong femmes, each alternatively leading and following in their own ways. i think the idea of kate and seven together represents the ultimate in equality in a relationship.

Equality? Voyager is no democracy. Janeway IS the authority. Period. No questions. No safety word. She smacked down chakotay in front of the entire bridge crew regularly. I'm shocked she didn't demand the bridge be redesigned so he wasn't sitting beside her. Why was it the only ship without a center chair, anyways?

Janeway was definitely more into men. After all, she was seen many times throughout the series glancing at the photograph of Mark and her dog. Sure, being sent 75,000 light years from home caused a lot of loneliness for all of them, but to say it was enough for Janeway to feel the need to find a romantic relationship elsewhere, with Seven or otherwise, is pushing it. Janeway is a very strong, authoritative figure on Voyager. As Matthias just said, she is the authority. There was no doubt in my mind about that as I watched the entire series.

I just watched "message in a bottle" (my favorite episode) last night. When janeway thinks she can contact home, she immediately writes a letter to Mark. Later, when she found out he had married, she understood but was heart broken. So not only was she only interested in men but for 4-5 years, her heart and body belonged to Mark.
